Why should unemployed Kenyans pay for certificate of good conduct? Concerned Nairobian moves to parliament to stop punitive government fees

Last Tuesday Interior Ministry announced that Kenyans will have to pay Kes 100 to replace a lost identity card. Registration bureaus previously processed duplicate IDs for free.

Mundia Samwel is concerned that the government is charging unemployed Kenyans too many fees. The concerned Nairobian has moved to the National Assembly to put to a stop to ‘punitive’ fees.

Samwel has written to the clerk of National Assembly concerning payments of necessary documents. He wants parliament to abolish fees on documents that propel youth to get jobs.

4 documents

The concerned Nairobian wants parliament to abolish payments of four documents including certificate of good conduct. Police charges Kes 1,270 to get a certificate of good conduct.

Other payments Samwel wants the government to abolish include HELB clearance, E.A.C.C clearance and Credit Reference Bureau Clearance.
