They say true love knows no reason, boundaries and distance. German professional basketball player, Dirk Nowitzki, travelled across the ocean to marry his wife Jessica Olsson Nowitzki in Kenya.
Dirk plays for Dallas Mavericks; the 7-foot giant led his team to win its first ever NBA championship in 2010.
Jessica was born in Kenya to a Kenyan mother and a Swedish father. She also has twin younger brothers Marcus and Martin Olsson. Both of them are football players, Marcus plays for Derby County FC (He used to play for Blackburn Rovers) while Martin plays for Norwich City and also the Sweden national team.
Dirk Nowitzki met Jessica while she was vacationing in Scotland. Love brewed and in 2012 the lovebirds got married.
The couple held two weddings; first a traditional wedding ceremony that was held in Nanyuki at Jessica’s mother’s family and then another in Germany at Dirk’s family.
Dirk and Jessica are blessed with two children; a daughter called Malaika who was born in July 2013 and a son called Max born March 2015.
