Boniface Mwangi, Jaguar and Steve Mbogo will enjoy this! Allege forged O-level certificate of Starehe MP surfaces online after he was accused of never going beyond primary school

Sometimes in 2013, the Amani Kariokor-Pangani self help group claimed Starehe MP Maina Kamanda never went beyond primary school education.

Nairobi News reported that a member of the group wrote a letter of complaint to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) Keriako Tobiko claiming that Maina Kamanda forged the O-level certificate issued by the then East African Education Council (EAEC) in 1974.

Starehe MP Maina Kamanda

“Mr Kamanda has never been to any post-primary school and has never attained any certificate to that effect so it is shocking to know that he has a certificate from City High,” the group said in the letter signed by its chairman James Mwangi.

The Kenya National Examination Council couldn’t prove the forgery claim since it didn’t have records; the examination body was formed in 1980, some six years after Maina Kamanda got the O-level certificate which was issued by the defunct East African Education Council.

Almost 5 years after Maina almost lost his seat, the forgery claim has once again come to haunt him; a copy of his alleged forged O-level certificate has surfaced on the interweb.

The copy, which shows that Maina sat for his O-level exams between November and December 1974, has spelling mistakes in words such as Christian Religious Education and Literature in English.

Boniface Mwangi, Jaguar and Steve Mbogo are all contesting to unseat Maina Kamanda in the forthcoming August 8th poll. And like they say… one man’s loss is another man’s gain. The three are likely to capitalize on Maina’s forgery claim in their campaigns.
