Dayo Amusa Says it is Okay for Actors to Live Fake Lifestyles

Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa has given a nod to the need for actors to live fake lives on social media. This was in an interview with Punch, where she spoke on the kind of lives actors live.

According to her, their profession is a make-believe art so nothing is real about them. Giving an illustration of how she is in her home and what she depicts on social media, the actress says she wouldn’t want to disappoint her fans.

Excerpts from Dayo Amusa’s interview below;

You have to brand yourself and make people see that you can promote their products well through the lifestyle you depict. If that is what people mean by fake life then it is fine. As an artiste, we live in a make-believe world which means that 80 per cent of the things you see us do on screen and even on social media are make-believe.

It is totally different from my personality. I might be at home and choose to tie a piece of cloth round my waist and drink garri. But if I would go on social media, I would not want to do that because some of my fans would be disappointed.

I am not advising young women to pretend to be who they are not. What I am saying is that as an artiste, we need to ‘show’ for the business to grow. I am a very realistic person and I do not see myself as one of those fake ones.

Recall that some celebrities have in the past, called actors out for being fake.

Read her interview below:

When asked about her status she said: “I cannot crucify people for their opinion. I feel that being a single lady is not a disease and you should not be cast out because some people feel that because you attain some certain age, you ought to be married. We have a lot of people who got married at an early stage and the marriage broke up, there are some that wish that their marriages are over. For me, I always say that it is not a do or die affair.”

Speaking on her shape and what African men want, the actress said: “Yes, I know they do. Ninety per cent of African men would go for plus size women because we are very ‘accommodating’. I think the only reason a man would go for a slim lady is due to the ‘slay mama’ trend on social media, but when men want to settle, they go for plus size women.”

It’s no news that in the Nigerian Entertainment, especially in Nollywood there is a system of hierarchy. An upcoming actor or actress must be polite and humble to the veteran if they really want to make it. But now in the social age, things doesn’t seem to be working like that again. Upcoming stars do not really have to pay tribute to the old ones which doesn’t seem to sit well with the oldies. Actress Dayo Amusa who is not happy about the situation lamented on it on Instagram.

Awwwww!
Did I hear someone body shame me? OH! That hurts you know ? but the let’s try this.
You are so less busy hating on another based on your own bitterness because only a self-hated, bittered, frustrated and depressed person will find pleasure in badmouthing a fellow all in the name of giving #ADVICE I guess what you are dealing with personally is SELF HATRED.
HEAR IS MY ADVICE
Start to learn how to love your imperfect life perfectly (Coz I am 100% sure you have an imperfect hole in your life. Even Jesus / Mohammed SWT had theirs )
Know that we are all beautiful and unique in our own different ways (Challenge me by showing me 100% identical twins and I will shed to size 6 ?) and finally I want you to Understand that I have risen as a woman #WomenArise long time ago and I’ve grown to trend confidently in respect of my imperfections. Actress, Dayo Amusa Shares her Thoughts on the Reasons Why Women Attract Damaged Men

The actress seems to have had a sober reflection on women attracting damaged  men and focusing their energy on repairing them while they neglect themselves.

In the wave of Nigerian female celebrities  suffering from domestic violence and in what seems to be a sober reflection, Nollywood actress, Dayo Amusa took to her Instagram page yesterday to share her thoughts on  women attracting men that are damaged beyond repair whom she says turn out to be  a disappointment.

She wrote…

“I used to be a fixer. I stayed in bad relationships, attracting the same type of men—men who needed to be fixed.

I know so many women in the same position. We attract cheating men, commitment-phobic men, emotionally unavailable men, emotionally damaged men, alcoholics, drug abusers, narcissists and sociopaths.

It’s like we are a magnet for men whose pieces are shattered all over the place. And for some reason, we feel compelled to put these pieces back together.

But I must admit, I have failed every single time.

I never gave myself a chance to sit back and question my motives. Instead of asking why I constantly felt obligated to pick up someone else’s broken pieces, I ran to pick them up without a second thought. Being selfless made me think that coming second didn’t matter because I was putting someone else’s worthiness first. And in the end, rank doesn’t matter, right?

I realized that the reason I was attracting these types of men was because I believed I could save them.

As selfless, thoughtful, giving women, we think we will be “that woman”—the one who will change them. We think we can turn a cheater into a loyal boyfriend. We think we can help him walk away from the drugs and alcohol. We believe we can help him get over his commitment issues and aim for a stable future with us. We trust that we can get rid of the emotional baggage that he has been carrying for years.

We attract these men because we believe they need us. And to leave them would be selfish, insensitive and ruthless.

The sad news is, we constantly blame ourselves when they don’t change. Every time they fail us, we think it’s because we failed them. Their hold on us becomes stronger; they keep us around knowing they have nothing to offer.

It’s just my view. What’s your view??? Let’s interact.#JustMyView #JMVwithDayoAmusa #TAO #millionshadesoftao.”
