Read RMD’s Birthday Message to his Daughter as she Turns 16

Nollywood actor, Richard Mofe Damijo is not only a good actor, he is also a dotting father, who prides himself in raising a son and daughter.

Today, his teenge daughter, Efemena, turns 16 and he has taken to Intagram to send a message to her.

Sharing his joys as a proud father, the actor notes that he regrets that the young girl does not speak his native tongue fluently.

According to him, she does not know more that ‘migwo in their native Urhobo language. This, he says he wishes to change. Also, the actor says he will remain an African dad that will always set rules, even in his child’s house. He therefore admonishes her not to let go of her Christian and African values.

Read RMD’s note to his daughter below;

My Efemena, My Princess, I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since I wrote you “that letter” and low-key made some promises -sigh- had I known 2 years were going to creep up on me so quickly, I wouldn’t have been so quick to! -sob-

I look at you and still thank God for gifting you to me, I still worry about the difference between your generation and mine and still worry that I would never be a good enough parent to you and your brother.

I just wish I raised you to speak Urhobo beyond Migwo, that is one regret I have in raising you but trust me I’m about to change that.

I also wish I could connect more to you by letting you wear whatever you wish to wear, go wherever you wish to go and let you stay out as late as you wish but sorry honey that’s never going to happen, not even at 21 or 25 because I’m that African Dad that will come to your house and set my rules, sorry but I’m not sorry.

I still want to be the really cool dad so go ahead make that IG account you’ve been hiding for several months public (Yea, I guess you thought I didn’t know, haha, you be Americana, I be Warri boy). Anyway, Efemena, do not let go of first, your Christian then your African values as they are important.

On being protective of her, he wrote:

Let’s just be clear that, I will still Censor your friends, Create a curfew, Censor your outfits and be a “monitoring spirit” unto your social media accounts and if you create a covert one, I will find it so don’t bother.

I still choose what is right and appropriate over what is cool.

I understand if you think 16 isn’t getting you the full free pass, don’t sweat it baby, even 25 probably won’t.

Thank you baby for loving me unconditionally, I do love you much more.

Happy 16th birthday Efemena Mofe-Damijo, God bless and keep you always.

Love,

Be Intentional- Richard Mofe Damijo Shares Success Tips

Richard Mofe Damijo never gets tired of sharing wise words.

Actor, Richard Mofe Damijo is one of the most respected figures in the Nigerian movie industry. Having being around in the scenes for a long time and of course, succeeding in the political arena, RMD has been able to impact lives, positively.

The actors social media pages can be regarded as a ready go-to, for any one that values the wise words of an elder.

He has once again, dished success tips for people that aspire to be a success in life.

In his words, to be successful, one has to be intentional. Venture into all endeavors with an intention, he wrote.

His words below;

Many times I’ve been asked what advice I have for young actors and lately I have come to realise that the best advice for anyone, irrespective of career path is to be intentional.
You do not wake up in the morning, have a bath, dress up nice and leave your house without an intention. You leave to either go to work, school, church, market, just take a walk, see a movie, whatever… The point is you step out with an intention. Even if all you want to do is “waka round” without going anywhere in particular, that in itself is still an intention. This same theory must be applicable in your life, BE INTENTIONAL. Do not live your life without an intention Don’t enter a relationship without an intention. Don’t start a business without an intention. Don’t pursue a career without an intention.
Draw up a long term plan and have a short term one that will help you achieve it, then work towards the plan intentionally. So if you need my advice, it would be these 2 words “BE INTENTIONAL”. #rmdsaysso #elevatewithrmd #disownedthebook #disowned #beintentional

If I Lost my Fame and Fortune, Will you Show Sympathy? RMD Advice Fans and Other Celebrities on Humility

“Many do not love you, they love the idea of you”- RMD.

Ace actor, RMD (Richard Mofe Damijo) has some few words for his followers and fellow celebrities. The actor, sharing a picture of himself on set as an old man seized the moment to dish advice.

RMD who has a large number of admirers, celebrities and fans alike asked if people will still adore him if he were a nobody. According to him, not everyone that shower praises on you actually love you. They love the idea of you, he said.

The Nollywood top actor stated that he keeps his circle really small despite the level of praises showered on him constantly. This is because people will be quick to pounce with the slightest mistake. He advised that people shouldn’t let the number of followers they have on social media, fool them.

Read his full statement below;

If I wasn’t the six foot and some more, successful, famous, somewhat good-looking RMD, will you still love me?  If not for the level of fame I have achieved and the success tied to my brand will you still scream my name?

If I was a middle-aged, gray bearded, emaciated applicant hoping to be your driver, will you give me a second look?  If I was a half literate Warri boy who said ‘Nyam’ instead of Yam, “Shorsh” instead of Church and “I chock” instead of “I was shocked”, will you not mock and laugh at my speech?

If I as RMD, fell on hard times, lost my fame and fortune, became helpless and hopeless, will you show any sympathy?

I ask, not because I do not know the answers but so that he that has ears will hear and hopefully learn a thing or maybe, two.

Don’t let the fame fool you;

In your desire to be loved and accepted, it is important to ask ourselves how much of the love and admiration thrown at you are genuine.

Know that many do not love you, they love the idea of you. It is the same people who sing your praises when you’re up, that tear you apart when you stumble, and stomp on you when you fall.

Don’t let the number of followers you have, the likes and comments on your pictures or the hype fool you, one wrong move and the vultures will swoop down to feast.

This is why I appreciate the love but stay super selective when it comes to letting people in. I keep my circle small, in fact, very small. I keep my private life, private and thank God for the grace to also keep my public life private.

Don’t put yourself out there and start crying foul when it blows up in your face and hey, STOP trying to sit with the cool kids, YOU•ARE•THE•COOL•KID!!!! Know this and elevate above the clique mentality.

Singer, Seyi Shay Gets Green Card from RMD, Says she is More than a Singer to him

This is for picking herself up after a fall.

Nollywood’s big Zaddy, Richard Mofe Damijo has commended Seyi Shay for her AFRIMMA Awards performance. The singer, despite falling during her performance rose gracefully to give a tremendous performance for the night.

RMD was obviously impressed by the singer’s carriage so he took to Instagram to pen a tribute to her. In his words, Seyi Shay is more than a singer to him.

Seyi Shay

He posted this picture along with a lengthy caption.

He wrote:

Everyone loves a come back story and so do I. I just love resilience, bravery and dogged determination. I love to see the fallen rise, the beaten win and the spat on shine. I respect a man who rises through the ashes and makes the most out of it and a woman who gets up from a fall like it never happened which brings me to Seyi Shay.

So on sunday the 12th of November at the AFRIMA AWARDS 2017, the talented Sheyi Shay came on stage full of spirit and fire, the crowd went berserk and the entertainer in her took over and as she went down the stage-Boom!!! It happened! An entertainersworst nightmare happened!! The type that when it happens all you want is for the ground to open up and swallow you! No entertainer ever, ever wants to fall on stage and Seyi Shay did, the crowd gasped, I froze BUT Seyi?

She “Shayed” up in style like it was all part of her well choreographed performance and continued like “What fall?” In that moment of brave confidence Seyi Shay became more than a singer to me. Today, Seyi Shay represents strength, confidence, resilience and professionalism, not only because she got up from a fall but because she got up from a fall in the a hall filled with thousands of people and still held her own “like a boss” and without meaning to she taught me that it doesn’t matter who’s watching when you fall, just get up and own it anyway. Remember it is a choice to elevate. #rmdsaysso #riselikeitneverhappened #elevatewithrmd.

Richard Mofe Damijo Shares his Thoughts on Why Most Hardworkers are not the Richest

Nollywood’s finest grandpa always have fertile words of wisdom.

Richard Mofe Damijo took to Instagram to share his opinion on hardwork which he says amounts to nthing without God. He stated that working smart is more productive than hardwork as hardwork doesn’t guarantee success.

He hardworking used bricklayers, carpenters, doctors and actors as example stating that they will be the richest if hardword is the only criteriun.

His post below…

Richard Mofe Damijo

Recently, I heard a rather interesting argument that asking God for money or say a house is stupid and an utter waste of your time and God’s own as well. The person who shared this thought went on to argue that all you need is hard work. Work hard and you’ll make money, work hard and you’ll get the house you so rightly desire and I’m sitting there like “hmmmm…”. Hmmmm… because if hard work is all we need to make it in life then trust me, the hardest working bricklayers, carpenters, doctors, even actors would be the richest people alive. Now, do NOT get me wrong, I totally get the argument but that singular narrative is faulty because there’s a difference between working hard and working smart.
I have a group of young people who are under my employment and mentorship and they are mostly a committed, hardworking bunch, however, there are weeks that they come in early, close late and achieve little, so I sat with them and shared the wisdom of working smarter than you work harder. Working smart is a topic for another day so I do not lose my line of discuss.
I am a firm believer in hard work and “smart work” as I am of God’s grace. There are two men who work as hard and as smart as the other but there is only one who gets ahead farther than the other because of the grace of God on his life.
The grace factor is the one that turns your little to much and brings you all round favour. It is the transcendent life that elevates you and even you know that it can only be God.
So yes, please work hard, work smart and also keep asking God for grace so that you can be counted amongst those written about in Rom 9:15 where the bible says “…I (God) will have mercy on whom I will have mercy and compassion on whom I will have compassion”.
It’s a new week, go elevate and #DoBiggerThingsNG #RMDSaysSo #ElevateWithRMD #GalaxyNote8NG

Richard Mofe Damijo Gushes over Award as Best Actor

Nollywood screen idol, Richard Mofe Damijo was awarded Best Actor in the just concluded Abuja International Film Festival.

Reacting to this, the actor took to Instagram to recount how he has been with so much laughter since April stating that he intends to keep getting better even after thirty three years in the industry.

He wrote:

So I won the best actor for my role in 3 wise men at the just concluded Abuja international film festival. It couldn’t have come at a better time as we wrap the #glolafftafest2017 today. It’s been a long comic ride since April. Laughter is good for the soul, and even the bible acknowledges that a heart that is cheerful is as “medicine for the soul…” which is why I love to laugh and be merry. Like laughter, awards are good for the soul especially when they are not post mortem.
People ask me why I still get excited over awards in acting since I have won tons of them. Well, yes, I still get tickled by acting awards, It’s who I am, it’s what I do and I absolutely love it.
It is my art and in it’s own way defines me, so any recognition of excellence ìs a validation that on my lane, I do good work. I adore and totally respect those who do same in their respective fields because when it all comes down to it, really, it’s how we impact our little corners that count. I am blessed and thankful that after 33 years of doing this work, I still hunger to be better everyday. My name is Richard Mofe-Damijo I am an actor, grateful for the liberty to express myself through my craft. Who are you?

Congratulations to him.

25 Years Later, RMD and Ego Boyo to Re-Unite for a Project

If you don’t remember the TV series Checkmate, you will remember the movie, Violated. Well, the TV sweethearts from these blockbusters are set to grace our screens again, in a new project.

Richard Mofe Damijo took to Instagram yesterday to announce that he and Ego Boyo, the President of International Women’s Society. He wrote…

“My journey with Ego Boyo started nearly 30 years ago, our first encounter being on the production of CHECKMATE when my dear friend Amaka Igwe pulled me in as the villain Segun Kadiri on the highly coveted TV series. One of the most remarkable things about Ego is that despite the fact that she is born with a silver spoon into the family of the highly respected late Justice Nnamani she was super disciplined (she still is), very humble and extremely committed. Our status as Nigerian TV sweethearts rose with the movie VIOLATED as ‘Tega’ and ‘Peggy’ became the toast of Violated fans. Since then Ego has gone ahead to becoming wife, mother, accomplished business woman and the president of International Women’s Society.
Over 25 years later Tega and Peggy are back together again on my new TV “DramCom” The Mr X Family Show. I can only hope that getting back together again on TV will tickle fans of Ann Hathrope and Segun Kadiri and the fans of Tega and Peggy who have been craving to have them grace their TV screens again. Ego and I are pretty excited about this and hope the excitement catches on. We are curious to see how many people or if anyone can correctly guess what we’re back together as… Mr and Mrs? Secret Lovers? Siblings? Colleagues?…
Somebody?! Anybody?! Let the guessing game begin.
Whatever their roles in the upcoming project will be, we don’t know yet but we know we certainly can’t wait to have them grace our screens again.
