Rested Nigerian music group, Danfo Drivers have been on the news for a while now after they spoke out angrily against Tekno. This is because they felt cheated by Tekno who used their early 2000’s hit track ‘Jogodo’, without their permission.
After granting an interview where they threatened to deal with the young singer, pictures of them surfaced online. This made some people believe that they have settled themselves and possible compensation has been made.
One half of the duo, Mountain Black, has however revealed that they did not take any money from Tekno. According to him, they agreed to work together on a remix of the song.
We didn’t collect any money from Tekno; you can ask him. The deed has been done; we cannot reverse it any longer. He planned to release the video of the song last week.
He asked if he could go ahead and we gave him our permission. But I told him we could do a remix later.”
Mountain Black said they wouldn’t have spoken out angrily if he had treated them well. According to him, they had earlier agreed that they would see at the Eko Hotel in Lagos after the Headies Award but he refused to pick their calls.
“Why would you release a job without telling the owner of the song? When he called that he wanted to see us, I told him we were busy but we should meet at the Headies and he said it was okay.
We were invited for the Headies at the Eko Hotel and he lives very close.
On that day, we called him and he was not picking up. That was why I granted an interview where I said we were looking for Tekno.
“Last week Wednesday, he called that he was coming to see us in Abuja.
So, he came down to Abuja and apologised for what he did. I told him we were not interested in his money but we wanted him to work together with us as a team.

Tekno accused of discrimination against dark skinned model.
According to an Instagram user identified as @quinbeee, Tekno refused to use her for his music video because she is dark skinned.
The model shared her story on her IG page where she told of how she had to walk out on the singer.
She was supposed to be the lead vixen for the video, she claims, but Tekno refused to use her because she was dark skin. He decided to opt for a light skinned model instead. As a consolation, he asked that she feature in the movie but insisted on the other model doing the close range shot. She rejected the offer and walked away, she said.
Her post below;
I had the worst experience today as a darkskin model, I woke up at 4am, got to Oregun on the mainland at 8am, and waited for the director @paul_gambit whom i respect a lot. Anyways to cut the story short, after all my stress, Tekno arrived on set, it was time to shoot with him. Tekno refused to use me as the main model for his #yourlovethevideo shoot cause i’m dark skin. Later he settled for me doing the full shots so a light skin model can do the closeup shots with him. But i walked out on him and his set. Dark skin women are beautiful and precious, we don’t settle for less and we don’t get to be an option, we are the option. Black girls please love your skin and never feel bad about rejection, If a Tekno rejects you, Look up to a Wizkid, Wizkid inspires me everyday to love my skin with his videos and how much he appreciates black women..
