Yemi Alade Reacts to Audio Tape of Rotimi Amaechi Criticizing the President

Nigerian singer, Yemi Alade has spoken up on the trending audio of Nigeria’s Minister for Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi. In the audio, the ex Rivers governor was heard saying that the country is hopeless. Also, he was heard making some demeaning comments about his boss, President Mohammodu Buhari.

Reacting to the video however, the singer asks why politician s run for office. Since they do not have hope in the country, they should give room to those that have hopes for the country, she said.

Yemi Alade says politicians can do better.

In another tweet, the singer also stated that it does not cost the country’s politicians anything to improve on infrastructures. They will not rule forever and they won’t take money to their graves, she tweeted.

‘Top Nigerian government officials saying that Nigeria is a hopeless country. Please why do you campaign for Office? Give way to those who still have hope in a better Nigeria’.

‘Politicians are all the same, what would it cost to have good roads, good education, good drinking water and stable electricity? You can’t be in POWER forever don’t forget, neither can you carry all the money to your grave’.

Yemi Alade to President Buhari: Why are our Leaders so Heartless?

Singer, Yemi Alade, has joined the list of those that are currently questioning the state of the nation’s polity. This was in a tweet, where she tabled her question to the desk of the nation’s president, Muhammadu Buhari.

Listing some of n the ills of the country, the singer asks why politicians are so heartless.

According to the singer, the roads, hospitals and even education is bad. why then do the leaders expect the masses to vote, she asks. She however, stated that there is no support system for the entertainment sector. Though they try to provide jobs in the industry, there is no support, she siad.

There is no Number One Singer in Nigeria- Yemi Alade

Yemi Alade says she holds down the same capacity as Wizkid and Davido.

I an industry dominated by the mle folks, singer, Yemi Alade seems to be among the few women holding it down in the Nigerian music scene.

Having won the Peak Talent Show in 2009, the singer has been able to rise to a level of stardom. He debut hit single, Johnny was the mark, she needed to make a print in the NIgerin Music industry. SInce then, she has come to be known as one of the most energetic and successful female singer’s in Africa. In fact, she has earned for herself, the name, Mama Africa.

In an interview with Hot 93.9 FM, the singer spoke on a range of issues. Among those issues was the topic of who the number one singer in the country is.

According to her, there is no number one in the country. Not everybody will agree with her, she said, but the show promoters know better.

‘What I have done with this kind of career that puts you in the limelight and keeps you vulnerable to everybody’s opinion, is I just have to make sure my opinion is paramount, it is number one…

I respect everybody, we all inspire each other in this industry… there is actually no number one because your top five artistes in Nigeria that are the biggest in Africa can shut down the exact same capacity, the same capacity Wizkid holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same capacity Davido holds down in Africa, I hold it down, the same venues, we all shut it down.

So there is no number one, and that is the truth but not everybody will agree to that, people will say Yemi shut up but that is the truth.. why don’t we go ask the promoters, the people who know the numbers.

She announced that she will embark on a tour back home soon.

This was as a part of the congratulatory message she sent to the singer, on her Instagram page. The American singer had posted that her song, ‘Be Careful’ had hut 1million platinum sales. To this, the ‘Johnny’ crooner responded.

Singer, Yemi Alade Responds to Criticism that she is in Support of Oppression in Togo

In recent comments by Togolese activist, Farida Nabourema for her alleged role in perpetuating the political oppression of the people of Togo.

Farida made these comments while granting an interview with Sahara reporters over recent turmoil faced by the West African country due to protests by the citizens calling for the resignation of their president Faure Gnassingbe  who has been in power since 2005 after he took over from his father who ruled the West African country for Thirty Eight years.

The activist talked about how African celebrities unlike their counterparts from other parts of the world, use their position to endorse political oppression from dictators.

Nabourema went on to say she used to love Yemi Alade until she listened to her singing in support of “one of the most brutal dictators in Togo because they paid her a couple of hundreds of thousands of dollars,” she told Sahara Reporters.

She said she was so angry and mad at the Nigerian singer and would curse her if she ever gets to meet her. She described the singer as someone who is “feeding on the suffering of others.”

“They are embellishing the image of a brutal dictator just for a couple of thousands of dollars,” she continued.

The activist also called out famous football Emmanuel Adebayor, who endorsed Gnassingbe for the presidency in 2015. The Togolese people lost their respect for him after that, she said.

According to a report by Pulse TV who contacted Taiye Aliyu who is Yemi Alade’s manager to confirm what really transpired, he said  “It was like a normal show you go for in the country. It was a festival they normally do. It wasn’t a political thing at all. Yemi Alade just went there to perform”.

Yemi Alade is currently one of the biggest music stars in the continent and is one of the judges of an ongoing musical talent show, ‘The Voice Nigeria’.
