Raila Odinga saved from being barred from voting in the August elections as woman who had his ID is traced

Cord leader could easily have been locked out of August election as it turned out that he shared his National Identity Card number with another person.

Raila was shocked when he found out that he shares his ID No. 4838593 with a certain Ombai Maria Anyango who had been registered as a voter in his polling station.

The anomaly could have seen the Cord leader barred from voting in the August elections as IEBC as two people can’t share one ID number.

Cord co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka had also claimed that he discovered that he shared his ID card details with another voter who had been registered with similar details.

The Standard reports that IEBC officials have since found the woman who registered as a voter using Raila’s ID number.

IEBC traced the woman to Alego Usonga to change her particulars in order to allow both her and the Cord leader to cast their votes in August.

Odinga claims the anomalies in voter registration is a ploy by the Jubilee administration to lock out potential voters as similar reports were reported across registration centers in Nyanza region.
