Robert Mugabe Makes Headlines Again! But This Time, Kenyans Are Down With Him #fastjet

“It’s like picturing heaven, isn’t it?” says the bouncy personality and sugary voice lady. Before I even calm my jolts down, she continues her description of the “Mosi-oa-Tunya”. Completely ignoring my confused look. ‘Imagine standing on the edge of heaven looking at an awe-inspiring beauty and grandeur of the greatest curtain of falling water in the world! Literally feeling the power of the water as it crashes into the gorge, over a hundred meters below. You know I went during last year’s rainy season, April/ May, so I got to feel the tropical rain shower. It’s created by the droplets of water carried up into the air by the power of the water below, I forgot to carry a rain coat. Don’t just stare at the post-card sweetheart; you should make a trip there’. And with that she left.

She left me bewildered; I was just admiring a damn Victoria Falls post-card! She didn’t have to be extra with her sentiments.

I went my way. Done with my shopping, completely forgot the lady till last weekend when I saw some scenic image online. Following it up, it’s Victoria Falls, aka “Mosi-oa-Tunya” – ‘The Smoke that Thunders’. This is a sign! It can’t be pure coincidence that this place creeps up twice, in less than two weeks!

So yours truly decides to do a research of the place, Madaraka Day is coming, so plans need to be made soon before I’m done with this salary on shoes! Quite interesting things I found out. Victoria Falls is the ultimate platform for thrill seekers. Activities more or less depend on one’s level of adrenaline and adventure junkiness. So I’ll stick to activities that I know I can handle: Zip lining, riding on a tamed Elephants back sounds exciting too… boyfriend on the other hand, I’ll be holding my heart while he bungee jumps off Victoria Falls Bridge – highest bridge in the world mind you, and water rafts on Zambezi Falls through 23 raging rapid! Catch me dead on that boat. I actually saw they have Walk with Lions as an activity. Heeh! You can also skin dip in the most dangerous pool on earth! ‘The Devil’s’ pool lies at the edge of Victoria Falls with about 30ft drop!

I’ll get to experience all this at only $100 one way exclusive of taxes! From Nairobi-Dar es Salaam-Harare-Victoria Falls. I know, makes no sense. Even I questioned that rate when I saw it. Let me break it down to you: Nairobi – Dar $30, Dar – Harare $50, Harare- Victoria Falls $20, crazy, right?! www.fastjet.com, I’m coming in today to book my tickets!!
