Caster Semenya steals the show at the SA Sports Awards

Sunday night saw Caster Semenya steal the show. This was at the SA Sports Awards in Bloemfontein.

Having won the Olympic 800m gold in 2012 and 2016, and the world championship 800m gold in 2009, 2011 and 2017, she appeared to be the most prolific medal-winner in athletics.

She therefore took home the sports star of the year.

In 2017, she also won a world championship bronze in the 1500m. This year saw her take the Commonwealth Games in the 800m and 1500m double in Australia, and the 400m and 800m crowns at the African championships in Nigeria.

Caster’s coach, Samuel Sepeng, was named the coach of the year.
