Khanya Mkangisa Speaks On Being Raised By A Single Parent
In a recent thread on social media, Khanya Mkangisa opened up about her superwoman. She talked about how her mother has been supportive since she started out in the entertainment industry.
“Mothers are truly God’s greatest gift,” read her first tweet.
Khanya’s mother decided that they move to Johannesburg because she wanted a better life for her daughter. This is despite the fact that she was working on a nurse’s salary, and had to grapple with the high cost of living in the city.
“Did I mention how she raised me alone, on a nurse’s salary and how she one day decided we were moving to Johannesburg because she wanted a better life for us? She still remains my number 1 fan. Hearing her tell me she’s proud of me truly warms my heart. I am so thankful for her.”
Her mother has always been supportive of her, sacrificing sleep to get her on set early when she was still a YoTV presenter.
“My mom has always been so supportive of me and my career. She used to pick me up from school and drive me to auditions. When I booked Yotv’s Big Yo, on Saturday mornings she’d drive me to studio at 6am in the morning. She never once complained. She didn’t have to do any of this.”
