Sho Madjozi shares her experience of working with Chris Martin

Speaking at the Global Citizen press conference on Monday, Sho Madjozi, who is set to perform at the major event, described the moment Chris Martin reached out to her as “insane.”

“Imagine getting an email from Chris Martin, the lead singer of Coldplay. So I just thought it was his PA. He’s like: ‘Sho Madjozi, I really love you. I really want you to be part of this festival and it’s a secret for now’.”

The muso says she agreed. “I always wanted to align myself with a good cause and especially one that would appeal to young people.”

Sho was when she was asked to meet Chris at FNB stadium to shoot a promo for the festival. “I thought all the artists are going be there,” she says, adding that she was shocked to find she would be filming alone alongside Chris. And an even bigger surprise for her was finding out that the line-up included acts like Beyoncé, Jay-Z and Usher.

When asked about what fans should expect from her set, the muso says she will be bringing high energy and will also be performing a new song with Chris Martin. “I think with me people always expect high energy, people always expect me to bring some aspects of my culture. But I think we’re going to amplify it to the max, because now we’re talking about the production quality of global superstars. And Chris Martin and I made a song together, so we’ll be performing that.”
