Kids in SouthAfrica had an opportunity to vote for their favourite celebs for the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards

The Nominees for this year awards were announced in a press briefing in Jo-Burg.

Nomzamo Mbatha, AKA, Siya Kolisi, Kagiso Rabada and Somizi were nominated in the Favourite South African Star category

Nigerian artist Davido is in the Africa nominee in the Favourite Global Music Star group.

AKA is set to launch a scholarship programme

AKA is set to launch a music scholarship program for his followers named The Megacy Kid in partnership with MTV Base and Rise Academy South Africa.

This comes after the rapper donated R100,000 and food to students at WITS after students went on a hunger strike.

AKA made the announcement on Instagram with the post captioned:  “@akaworldwide, @mtvbasesouth, and @riseacademysa are ready to help SA’s top aspiring young talent break into the music industry ????? AKA won’t be boycotting Gucci

AKA revealed the reasons as to why he will not be boycotting Gucci.

Gucci sparked outraged when they revealed a design that was accused of being blackface.

This led to a lot of American rappers boycotting the brand.

 

AKA posted pictures of himself in Gucci and some of his followers called him out.

AKA and DJ Zinhle reignite their re-union rumours

For the better part of this year, fans have been speculating as to whether AKA and Dj Zinhle are back together.

They have been spending lots of time together and also allegedly went on a baecation.

Kairo’s parent are yet to confirm the reunion rumors, but the twitter FBI won’t give them a rest.

A twitter handle by the handle @The Real Housewives of Johannesburg Twitter page shared videos seeming to prove that they may be back together.

.In one video supposedly taken by AKA, a woman resembling DJ Zinhle is seen walking in the same direction as him, giving us only her back view, as he hypes her up.

“Oh, girl you’re fine as fuck, girl. Yeah!” he says

In another video, also seemingly taken by AKA, DJ Zinhle is seen checking herself out in the mirror while he asks her where she got her jacket from.

AKA asks: “Babe, where did you get this jacket?”

“This is Kiernan’s jacket, the diesel jacket that I’m wearing with my diesel boots. Don’t be too alarmed, thank you very much,” says DJ Zinhle as she walks away, leaving him in stitches.

AKA helps university students in casting a spotlight

Students from the University of Wits staged a campus shut down. This is after a number of NSFAS applications were rejected by the State funding agency. AKA thus took it upon himself to help them out.

He has now cast a spotlight to their problems.

AKA supports the Special Olympics SA national time

Special Olympics South Africa last month officially launched the #BackOurTeam campaign, a call to all South Africans to get behind the Special Olympics South Africa national team on the “Road to Abu Dhabi”.

AKA today confirmed his ongoing support during a visit to the Special Olympics South Africa offices in Johannesburg.

Following previous contributions to the organization in 2018, the hip hop superstar alongside his mother, Special Olympic ambassador Lynn Forbes committed to fully get behind the organization and adopt an athlete for the World Games this year.

His commitment includes financial support of R35 000 for one lucky athlete in addition to Reebok leisure for the athletes.

Through the “Adopt an athlete campaign”, Special Olympics South Africa are calling on companies and individuals to adopt an athlete for R35 000 to ensure our athletes have the opportunity to compete with pride and are well equipped amongst the 7500 athletes attending.

AKA celebrates birthday and drops long awaited video

AKA celebrated his 31st birthday while dropping the much awaited music video for Jika. This is from his album, Touch My Blood. 
In the video, the rapper travels a lot into the future, something we did not think would come out of the video.
AKA is set to be featured on Comedy Central Roast of AKA. Filming of the show will take place on the 21st of February at The Teatro, Montecasino in Johannesburg.

Are DJ Zinhle and AKA Back Together?

There are speculations that AKA and DJ Zinhle are back together.

This comes after they both shared photos from their vacation which seemed more or less the same place.

Twitter CSI was quick to point out the similarities and conclude they are on Baecation.

Neither of them has confirmed a reunion as of yet but we are rooting for Kairo’s parents to get back together.

AKA declares his support for ANC

AKA is arguably one of the most outspoken celebs in the country and he doesn’t shy away from speaking his truth.

The rapper took to Twitter to share his sentiments on matters regarding politics.

He started by slamming the Democratic Alliance for their billboard which showcased Southafricans who were killed in the Marikana mines.

Honestly, this election, I’m going to vote ANC. But I don’t know why,” AKA admitted, “I feel like many people feel that way.

“I am ANC through and through but I need understanding and reassurance of what we stand for and where we are headed. Don’t be afraid to speak out, the ANC belongs to US. This is our ANC.” He said in a series of tweets

Busiswa and AKA Take Home MVP Awards

The MVP Awards took place at the Eko Convention Centre in Nigeria over the weekend. it saw two of our very own artists walk home with the biggest awards.

Musician Busiswa and AKA walked off with the awards.

Busiswa took to Instagram to express her excitement over winning the best female award. She wrote: “Bathi Sebenzis’ umuthi Lord! AKA Rocks a R410K outfit for the Fact Durban Rocks performance

A Twitter user decided to criticize AKA’s outfit he stated that the rapper should have done better in picking his outfit for the night, soliciting a response from the Fela in Versace hitmaker, who gave a break down of what each item he wore costs.

AKA gave his followers heart palpitations after revealing that he wore Versace sneakers (R20,000), G Star jeans (R8,000), a Chinatown Market sweater (R10,000), a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date on his left wrist (R110,000), another  Rolex Oyster Perpetual Date for R250,000 and a gold chain which costs R12,000 – bringing the total to R410,000.

AKA and Malema seems to rekindle their friendship

AKA and Julius Malema seem to be in a good place after the rapper shared pictures of them hanging out in Polokwane recently.

The Fela in Versace hitmaker took to social media to share pictures of himself, Malema and his wife, Mantwa, hanging out in Polokwane, and thanked them for hosting him and “kind words”.

“Thank you for hosting us and for your kind words. God bless you and your family in 2019 and beyond,” he said.

AKA nasty clap back to a fan

Just because its the New Year doesn’t mean that AKA left his chills in 2018.

A fan had to learn the hard way when he criticized the rapper’s outfit.

The fan called AKA out for his outfit at Fact Durban Rock, saying he was either “wasted” or plain “disrespectful” to his fans for showing up in that outfit.

The rapper replied with a tweet of his own, unpacking his outfit and revealing how much each piece costs.

The full outfits apparently cost a staggering R410 000.

“Versace sneakers. 20k. G star jeans. 8k. Chinatown Market sweater. 10k. Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust. 110k(left wrist) Rolex Oyster Perpetual Datejust big face bust down(250k) thin ass gold chain(12k) … kiss my ass attitude…. priceless.” AKA’s reply read.

The rapper wasn’t done with the fan yet telling him; “Look at your own avatar. How are you giving me style advice? Like how fam? You’re wearing a tank top from Markhams and tweeting from Android,” he added.

AKA gets beer cans thrown at him during a performance

AKA has taken to social media to air his disappointment at rowdy fans who pelted him with cans full of beer and put his life at risk while performing on stage at a music concert to celebrate Day of Reconciliation holiday.

AKA, real name Kiernan Forbes, was the headline act at the “All White 80s Party” at Trimpak in Potchefstroom, North West, on Sunday.

AKA Set To Be Roasted On Comedy Central Africa

Comedy Central has announced that the next star to be roasted is none other than AKA. All this will take place in February 2019.

“THE SUPA MEGA @akaworldwide, is getting ROASTED!!! Will he come out a fella in BURNT Versace, or will the end be a victory lap?? Get those tickets and come witness the HEAT. #RoastofAKA @showmaxonline ,” they wrote.

AKA then wrote saying the previous roasts will be nothing compared to his.

“Every roast before this was practice. Take a seat, Bon Appetite,” he said.

His roast will take place at the Teatro, Montecasino in Johannesburg. Tickets are available to the public from computicket.

AKA reveals who he would want to roast him

In an interview with  DJ Fresh and Somizi on Metro FM’s Fresh Breakfast AKA revealed the people he would love to see roast him.

He also requested that Kairo and Dj Zinhle be kept out of it.

“I want Somizi on the panel, I want Pearl Thusi, I want Dbanj [and] maybe if Cassper Nyovest [wants to do it], he can get on the panel. Maybe we can even get Queen B on the panel,” he told the Fresh Breakfast team.

 

The Comedy Central Roast of AKA in partnership with Showmax was announced on Thursday and will take place at The Teatro at Montecasino on 21 February 2019.

Filming of the Comedy Central Roast of AKA will be open to the public and tickets are available from Computicket for R300.

AKA Turned Motivational Speaker?

Musician AKA will be in Wentworth for something other than music. He will be visiting the Austerville Community centre where he is set to deliver a motivational speech to youngsters in the area.

He announced on social media that he will be at the centre during the day before performing at a local club. All this will be happening this weekend.

“I will be in Wentworth, speaking to the kids, the youth. Giving back. Make sure you’re there. Do not miss out. Once in a lifetime,” AKA said.

He will be at the Community Centre from 1pm on the 15th of December.

AKA launches his own App

AKA is still making business moves even after parting ways with the Beam group.

The rapper took to Twitter to make the major announcement.

AKA partners with major brands for major endorsement deal

We all thought All Eyes On Me would be AKA’s last album. Thankfully, it is not. He just partnered with SONY Music Africa and Vth Season. This is a long-term global deal.
