Amanda Black & Nasty C to represent the country in New Orleans

Musicians Amanda Black and Nasty C will be proudly representing Mzansi in New Orleans. This will be at the upcoming Essence festival.

Amanda couldn’t hide her excitement and thus took to social media to share the news with her fans and followers.

“Guys! I am so excited!” she wrote.

She went on to congratulate herself for holding onto her dreams against all odds.

“The cloud I’m on. Don’t ever give up on your dreams. Don’t ever limit your dreams. It’s the expectations you need to look out for. But don’t dream small. You are not small.”

Amanda will share the stage with Nasty C, Celeste Ntuli and Tellaman.

Essence Festival aims to showcase African talent on a large scale.

Amanda Black gives word of encouragement to her fans

Amanda Black too to Instagram to reflect on how the year 2018 was for her. She is grateful to be able to stand and despite the challenges it bore, she was full of encouragement to her fans.
“…2018 was one of the toughest years of my life, almost thought I wouldn’t make it…ok I’m lying, I had to make it, though I felt like I wouldn’t make it, I had to make it and I’m here today, I’m still standing and I just wanted to let you know…you will make it, it won’t get any easier but you will find a way to make it and get through. Breath,” she said.
Amanda has partnered withSony Music and is looking forward to continuing her career as a musician.
“I just want to continue with my career. I just want to sing that is it. Whatever happens now, I want to come out being able to sing my songs. I want to be able to record and release new music. I want to share what I have. This journey that I am on, I am meant to be on. All the hardships that I am going through right now I understand that they are meant for me. I am supposed to go through them,” she said.
All is looking bright for the musician who just released her new single, Thanda Ndim, last week.

Amanda Black finds a New Label

Amanda Black recently announced her new label, Afro Rockstar.

She also announced her partnership with Sony Music.

The Singer parted ways with her old record label Ambitiouz Entertainment.

She will be releasing her new single Thandwa Ndim this Friday.

Another hurdle for Amanda Black after her exit from Ambitiouz Entertainment

After announcing that she was quitting Ambitiouz Entertainment, Amanda Black has yet another hurdle to overcome.

Interestingly, even though she is at liberty to find a new manager, she is indebted to Ambitiouz Entertainment. This is because her first album, Amazulu, was released by the record label, and it earned her music trophies.

It is said that Amanda therefore owes them two more albums.

She has not however confirmed nor denied the position she is facing.

“Amanda is still looking around, having meetings with potential managers and nothing has been confirmed
as yet.

“I can’t confirm nor deny whether or not she still has to release two more albums like you said, but you have to understand that there are contractual ‘things’,” Meslane said.

Amanda has not given any information on why she left the record label.

Amanda Black leaves Ambitiouz Entertainment

Musician Amanda Black has parted ways with record label Ambitiouz Entertainment.

The reason behind the split is said to be because they could not agree on certain terms.

“I am very grateful for Ambitiouz Entertainment and how far we have come,” she said.

“I’m embarking on a new journey. I needed a team that would work with me in realizing the plans and dreams have for my career going forward.”

Amanda is currently in talks with other management companies. She is weighing her options on which one will best suit her brand.

Amanda Black on life after Idols

Amanda recently sat with Channel 24 to discuss her life after idols.

AFTER a roller-coaster ride which included being eliminated from the Idols top 16 in 2015, Amanda Benedicta Antony (24), popularly known by her stage name, Amanda Black, is flourishing in the music industry. After leaving the popular singing competition, Amanda vowed it wouldn’t be the last time people see her and true to that, she is a force to be reckoned with in the industry.

Amanda says even though she got eliminated in the early stages of Idols, she is grateful that the competition gave her a platform to showcase her talent. “I gave it my all and it seems it wasn’t enough. With all that being said, I am thankful for the opportunity the show gave me.” She says she is glad she was eliminated from the show. Amanda says nobody likes to lose and even though she was really disappointed, it wasn’t the end of her music journey. “If I had won Idols, I wouldn’t be where I am today. It was a huge blessing in disguise for me not to win the competition. Honestly, if you take a look at some of the Idols winners, they are far from reaching the peak of their careers, while some have faded,” she says.  

DISCOVERING HER MUSIC

Born and raised in Mthatha, Eastern Cape, the songstress has always loved music. Although her parents always knew that she loved music, they never understood why. “They were afraid because of the negative stories they always heard about artists. But at a later stagethey gave me their blessing to go for it,” she says. Amanda says being on Idols exposed her to a lot of things. She saw the ins and outs of the industry and learned more about the business. “I knew what I was going to talk about in my music. I figured out what people would want to hear and that’s how Amazulu came about,” says the award-winning singer. “The album is about my journey. There are songs that talk about me losing and finding myself, getting to know who I am and thriving. There are also songs about heartbreak, love, being happy and comfortable in my own skin. All these stories are real.”

HER MOVE TO JOZI

The young songstress is signed to the record label, Ambitiouz Entertainment, which helped her release her debut album, Amazulu, giving her her big break. “It was when I decided to move to Johannesburg that things happened for me. I had left my contact details on my social media pages and that’s how I got contacted by the CEO of Ambitiouz Entertainment, who wanted to meet me,” she says. But before this meeting, Amanda says she was a bit sceptical about joining the record label, but meeting with him felt right. “I didn’t want to sign to a record label because of all the stories I had heard about the City of Gold and how your career can be destroyed. I spoke to my family about signing to the label and told them that it felt right. I decided to join the record label and look where I am now,” she says.

Amanda Black left scared after being threatened at gun point

Amanda Black had a gun pulled at her and her team during the Mapungubwe Music Festival on Saturday. This left the award winning musician shaken.

“I’ve truly never been so scared in my life. The reason I posted was because you guys never see what happens backstage.”

Incident

According to Amanda, as she was about to perform, an unknown man chased them off stage and followed them to their car, pointing a gun at them.

“This guy, I don’t even know what his name is, shouted at us… He gets angry, and he pulls out a gun. We are on the way to the police station. I don’t even know how to feel. He smacked one of my band members for taking pictures. No guys, this is not okay. He even pulled out a gun!” she said in an emotional video posted on her social media.

Although she had filed a case, she later withdrew it.

The festival organizers apologized to Amanda for the incident.

“We are aware of the claims and we have no reason to dispute her claims or think they are frivolous. We are treating the incident as serious and urgent and will meet on Monday with security and festival personnel to establish what had happened. As there are claims of a gun being pulled on her, we will involve law enforcement,”  said the festival’s spokesperson Moloko Moloto.

 

 

Amanda Black earns two nominations at the All Africa Music Awards

Afro-soul singer Amanda Benedicta Antony (Amanda Black), has earned herself two nominations into the All Africa Music Awards.

The nominations are for Best female artist in Southern Africa and Best female artist in inspirational music.

Announcing it on social media, she said, “”OMG!!! Nominated at the All Africa Music Awards For Best Female Artist in Southern Africa & Best Female Artist in Inspirational Music…”

During the SAMAs this year, Amanda bagged three awards, that of Best female artist, Best newcomer, and Best R&B/Soul/Reggae Album.
