Enhle Mbali to launch own clothing line

Actress Enhle Mbali has announced that she will be launching her own fashion label later this year. She plans to do this during SA Fashion Week’s Autumn/Winter 2020 runway showcase, which happens in the second half of the year.

“I think this is where I take my giant leap because a lot of people don’t know that I do fashion. I don’t want to give too much away on the clothing I will be making; it’s such a competitive market,” she said.

“But I think it’s going to be something that introduces us to the rest of the world in terms of styling because as Africans we keep it safe and watch what they do internationally first, then follow.”

Enhle first styled musician Keabetswe Motsilanyane when she was 17 years old.

“I’ve always been into fashion. I was a 17-year-old, who styled KB. It was huge for me,” she said. In December, Maphumulo collaborated closely with local couture duo Quiteria & George to create one of Beyoncé’s high-fashion stage looks for her performance in SA.

“I realised that people only recently discovered I have been doing music videos for my husband, but I have been doing it and styling his art covers.”

Enhle Mbali reflects on what turning 30 meant to her

Almost a year after turning 30, Enhle Mbali has taken time to reflect on what it felt like, and the lessons she has learned.

She took to Instagram to share some of the notes she has taken and how they have impacted her mindset in her new year.

“Turning 30 was such a mind f**k. Something happens to the way you think. Realities become even more real. Choices become harder than ever. But I loved this for myself.

“Last year was one that was for change. Mantras changed‚ inward conversations with my spirit changed‚ my sensuality changed‚ my heart and so much more. Life hit like a ton of bricks …. nope actually felt like I was free falling from space with no safety net.”

Looking back, Enhle is thankful for the hardships she endured.

“Now I sit and ask myself ‘but did you die?’. No so get up and strut boo. Makuti huu. I’m so thankful. So this is a toast to the hardships that pass‚ raise your glasses and say thanks but f**k off then use every lesson so it doesn’t come back to swing again.”

This is my Granny. Malebone Mogasè . One of the most hard working woman I know. She has grown so much in her mature age.”

Enhle Mbali Reaches Out To Young Women Through New Initiative

Enhle Mbali is taking action against depression particularly in young women. For her, it comes from a place of feeling like that a person needed to initiate the dialogue among the youth. This is because they are neglected and left to fend for themselves because their elders don’t talk.

“The problem is we don’t talk about things, that is why depression has managed to manifest itself in such a big way. A lot of us do have depression because of the lifestyles we live and we don’t even know it. We work too much, we play too hard, our bodies and minds never have time to heal. This is the reason I feel I need to help,” she said.

Initiative

Her initiative, Enhle cares, started over four months ago. It was created out of a gap she felt needed to be filled. According to her, a lot of South African women are emotionally drained and depressed.

“So I did this slumber party with a group of girls aged 13 to 20 and it was absolutely amazing. We had conversations that I didn’t think would happen. I got to learn a little more about what I needed to try to tackle and depression, emotional health were big elements.”

It soon dawned on Enhle that her birthday celebration would be a good way to include a gala dinner for her initiative.

“Because I turned 30 this year, I decided there would be three major celebrations. The party, the intimate dinner and a gala dinner that would include every single person that has done anything for me or with me. It embodies what Simple Enhle is all about. I then partnered with House of Mandela, Africa Rising Foundation and their supporting partners, Global Citizen and The Nozala Trust who have been amazing help.”

The gala dinner, dubbed Forever Young Ball & Gala Dinner will take place on November 30th in Johannesburg.

Enhle Mbali gives fan advice on cheating husband

Enhle Mbali recently took time off her busy schedule to hold a live Instagram chat with her fans and followers.

When one of her fans asked for advice on a cheating husband, Enhle gave her some solid advice.

“… stop blaming the woman because your man is married. If there’s anyone you should be beating up, it’s your man.”

Enhle continued: “Your man sat in front of thousands of people, hundreds of people and promised ’till death do you part’, right? And he promised he wouldn’t break an oath, do you know what I mean? If anyone needs to be beat up in this situation – the girls are wrong ’cause you see a ring and you still continue on – but your husband needs to be handled, boo. I’m glad awusashayi abantu.”

The fan said she’d keep on praying.

“Yeah, yeah, prayer is good, prayer is amazing… But pray and do something about it,” Mbali said, and continued: “If he’s a serial cheater find out why he’s serially cheating and if you can stay in the relationship or not.”

During an interview last year, Enhle spoke about why men cheat.

“They rely on someone else to keep building that ego. A lot of the time that’s the only reason they do it. And we often find many excuses, but it’s a confidence issue,” she said at the time.

Watch: Enhle Mbali speaks on husband’s past infidelity

For the first time, Enhle Mbali has opened up about her husband’s infidelity that hit the headlines a few years ago. She did this on Tuesday night, at the inaugural In Good Company Experience Summit, where she was one of the keynote speakers.

“How do we as women stand here all month and salute ourselves for all this power when we cannot say on a simple situation that a sister did you wrong?” Enhle posed to a room full of women. “Yes, everyone is equally to blame,” she charged before pointing at her husband in the audience and continued to say “I love you” to him.

“A sister did me wrong. I heard comments such as ‘she thinks she’s perfect, even Beyonce gets cheated on’. My own sisters make their way to my husband’s inbox, in the industry and out of the industry. The very same sisters that I fight for.”

Enhle also took time to talk about her fear of turning 30 early this year, especially because she grew up in the public eye.

“This is the truth I wanted to speak of. How deep is our womanhood? Are we only sisters when we need something from each other? Are we only sisters when I don’t want your man or the job you have? Or the shoes or clothes you have? Where does our womanhood start and where does it end?

“I’m a lover of men, hence I married one. I like everything that men bring and I understand how human all of us are. But my journey here is to make sure that women understand what sisterhood is. The depth of how much we hurt each other comes from the fact that we are hurt.”
