Florence Masebe speaks on healing journey

Florence Masebe believes she has become stronger through the pain of losing her son three years ago.

She took to Instagram to speak about how she MC’d a certain funeral and managed not to break down.

“I went to a funeral on Friday and I did not cry. Not because I did not care. I had prayed hard that morning for strength so I could stand strong and carry out the programme with as much dignity as I could master.”

Florence managed to find strength to complete the task ahead of her.

“I don’t know where it came from but the strength was there. I did not need my own tears getting in the way of the task at hand. I saw funeral cars and did not break. I stood in front of a coffin and did not break. I walked through a graveyard and did not break… Is my pain all gone? No. I’m now a little bit stronger than I was when it first hit me. It still hurts. On Friday I deferred the tears. That to me signals a bit of healing. For this I am thankful.”

Her son died in 2015 after drowning in a pool at her home.

Florence Masebe share her health struggles in 2018

Florence Masebe has shared what she went through in 2018, saying she almost died. Masebe said she spent most of February in hospital fighting for her life.

In a lengthy Instagram Post Masebe shared her health journey in 2018.

Reflections… My 2018 health file. I found myself in ICU, almost died and was almost put on a ventilator. This was in February. Almost all of it I was here. The rest of the year was a constant battle to avoid any further infections. I didn’t always win. There’s always that coughing or sneezing person. At some point I was wearing a mask in my own home so I wouldn’t make others sick and so that I would not pick up any more bugs. I have so much to be thankful for. I am here. Healthier. Breathing. I can finally do the light exercise again. Baby steps. I must not get carried away. I tend to. The medication blew me up. I’m thankful for it. It saved my life. There was that one angel nurse in ICU. Sister Busi. I can never forget her. I will always thank her.
This body went through a lot this year. A delayed reaction to all that the soul has been through. I am thankful for this life and this journey.

Florence Masebe warns woman harassing her

Florence Masebe has sent a strong message to the woman harassing her. The actress and now author says the woman has been sending sick emails to her for years. The drama does not end there. The woman is now accusing Florence of stealing her concept in her new book based on the loss of her son.

Florence was evidently angry in the tweets she sent, threatening to deal with the matter.

“How does one even respond to such manure? This excuse of a human being has chosen the wrong subject to seek attention with. If you know who this person is, do warn them about my inborn intolerance for crap…”

“Itumeleng Bridget, whatever your real name is, pick another head to attempt to play on. And next time you want to try me, leave an address so my lawyer can find your filthy ass. This is not the first time that you have picked me for your twisted games. As promised, I will find you,” she said.

Florence Masebe opens up about loss of son

Florence Masebe has shared intimate details of losing her 18-month old son two years ago.

The actress spoke to Drum ahead of the launch of her book, The Heart Knows. Florence remembers the feeling she had when she held her son’s lifeless body.

“…I held my dead son in my arms for an hour while waiting for forensic pathology to come and fetch his body. I had never imagined the pain a mother goes through when she loses the child she birthed.”

Florence’s son died on the morning of her birthday two years ago. He fell into a pool and drowned at her Johannesburg home.

Since losing him, Florence has grieved privately. In the book she is set to launch, she has penned down poems where she shares her journey through grief.

She hopes the book, will help other mothers dealing with the same pain.

“I lost a huge part of me when I lost you my Prince. I still don’t share much of that pain and grief with anyone outside my immediate world. When all seemed too dark to ever let any light in, my knowledge of your love gave me much needed strength. I know I’m not the only mother in grief. That is why I turned my loss into a book in your name. The heart knows,” she said.

The book is to be released today in Joburg, and on 16th November in Polokwane.

“It is a collection of poetic mourning or poems written during my time of mourning,” she said.
