Gail Mabalane celebrates son’s birthday in sweet message

Gail Mabalane recently celebrated her son’s first birthday. As his first birthday present, she decided to write a letter to him.

“Feels like only yesterday that we welcomed you, our second baby into the world. We showered you with love, kisses and wrapped you in your first tiny little Huggies nappy. I remember waking up that Wednesday morning and thinking…today is the day I get to meet you…and it was. You were born at 14:00…2hours after my arrival at the hospital. We connected in an instant…it is amazing how time flies, the past year literally flew by as I adjusted to being a new mom…again…and I continue to try and balance it all. It’s been a wild and exhilarating ride.”

Gail went on to say that her son’s birth has taught her many things about herself that she remains thankful for.

“You started walking at 11months, and not once did I see you discouraged by your continuous failed attempts to take steps and keep up with your big sister. Each time you fell on your bottom (thank goodness cushioned in Huggies), you calmly and patiently got back up again, knowing that you’ll get there…eventually…no rush at all. I strive to take in every moment with you and your sister and am forever grateful for the blessing of being called “mom”. Happy first birthday Khumo…I look forward to many more huggable moments.”

Business is no child’s play…and the truth is, financial support in particular is not always as readily available and as easily accessible for black women as we’d like to make it out to be. Often times, if you don’t “know people in high places” or not willing to compromise yourself, it’s a fight, an uphill battle…but it’s all worth it. ? It might not happen as quickly as you’d like it to, but don’t stop fighting. In the end, faith, persistence and hard work pays off. #SlowlyButSurely ✊? #GirlPower #WomenInBusiness #YesWeCan ❤️ Read more about my story in the latest issue of @destinyconnect”
