Speaking on the Thabooty Show on 5FM, she spoke about it again. Losing weight for her has been one of the most difficult journeys she has ever embarked on.

“Let’s forget diabetes for a second, but let’s talk about the fact that as African women, we think we are sexy when we’re overweight because we’ve got hips… So you get concerned when people say ‘aw you’re still gorgeous as a full-figured woman’. That’s amazing but the reality is that it’s not healthy, so for me I wanted to lose the weight but it was the hardest journey I ever went through.”

Diabetes for Sophie has been a bessing in disguise as it has forced her to eat well and live well.

“Yes I may have lost a little too much but I don’t care. For people to say it’s too much, I don’t really care. See, I can say I need one more kilo, for someone else they may say ‘haai this person needs 10 kilos’. No, my decision is that when I’m happy, I’m happy, I’m happy and I feel fantastic.”

“I was at a meeting so my phone was on silent when the rumours started trending. My son who was at school at the time tried to call me but couldn’t get a hold of me. Do people who start these rumours even think about what it does to our children or that parents can end up having a heart attack?”

She went onto add that the culprits need to stop and think about the families of people with chronic diseases.

“People are dying of depression‚ cancer and HIV and yet South Africans have time for jokes. Half of SA is suffering with some chronic disease which is such a challenge for families‚ so people need to grow up.

Sophie Ndaba is giving more details on her wedding

Sophie Ndaba sat with City Press and gave them more details on her upcoming nuptials.

She gave out more details on the planning including the wedding dress, venue and dates.

I am in talks with three people in the industry who are going to help me with my wedding planning. I’ve also approached three local designers who are going to design my wedding outfits. It’s going to be an intimate wedding with family and close friends,” she said.

Ndaba is also doing things the old school way. She says she is going to do a big traditional wedding in Soweto, where she grew up.

“For me, a traditional wedding is a big deal before the white wedding because you tend to involve everyone close to you and see family and friends that you haven’t seen in years,” she said.

Although this will be Ndaba’s third marriage, she said there isn’t a formula for a successful marriage.

“Every marriage is different. I have no regrets. In my previous marriage I gave it my best and I still do even now. I am not perfect. Everyday I am praying to be a better wife and I also pray for him to be a better husband.”

Love overcomes all because Ndaba has found her soul mate: “He is my BFF. We are open to each other and we talk about everything,” she giggled.

Lichaba shared the same sentiment: “We do everything together. When I met her I didn’t see a girlfriend in her, but a wife.”

Sophie Ndaba speaks on having Mfundi as a mentor

Three years ago, Sophie Ndaba was fired from Generations. This was after a dispute emerged between its Executive producer Mfundi Vundla, and other cast members.

Since then, Ndaba has learned a lot.

Her career off camera, she says, is thriving more than ever before.

Mentor

During a recent interview on Trending SA, Ndaba revealed how she has always seen Mfundi as a mentor.

“I’ve always seen Mfundi as a father figure, and I believe in honesty. When I felt he was wrong, I told him he was wrong, and I felt that it was time, not to necessarily make peace but to say, let’s get on with it. I mean why am I moving ten steps back when I should be moving ten steps forward, so I moved ten steps forward.”During a recent interview on Trending SA, Ndaba reveales how she has always seen Mfundi as a mentor.

“I’ve always seen Mfundi as a father figure, and I believe in honesty. When I felt he was wrong, I told him he was wrong. I felt that it was time, not to necessarily make peace but to say, let’s get on with it. I mean why am I moving ten steps back when I should be moving ten steps forward? So I moved ten steps forward.”

To jump start her career in producing, she felt Mfundi was the perfect fit in doing that.

“The SABC said if we want to move on to the next level we must choose our mentors and I thought he was absolutely perfect, I mean he [Mfundi Vundla] came up with one of the biggest soapies in Africa, why not.”

She is now enjoying the fruits of her hard work.

I stepped off because I wanted to grow my business, wanted to add to my business. I do property now; decor, I do project management and those projects, events, I do international events, and concerts.”

Sophie Ndaba has a ring on it

Sophie Ndaba is a married woman. She is said to have eloped with businessman Max Lichaba, and flown to Italy to make it official, last month. They then flew to France for their honeymoon. Max Lichaba owns a popular Soweto nightspot.

This is the third time the veteran actress is tying the knot. Sophie was previously married to Themba Ndaba, a fellow artist. Her second marriage was to Bishop Keith Harrington.

She confirmed to having gotten married to Max.

“Yes, I’m wearing my ring but I’m not ready to confirm what you are asking me. All I can say is that we are responsible people and we have done things in a responsible way and will continue to do things in a responsible way,” she said.

Lichaba confirmed this when he referred to Sophie as his wife.

Their union occurred after Lichaba’s relatives paid lobola to Sophie’s relatives in Jo’burg.

They are said to have met through Lichaba’s brothers who help run his business. They called Sophie to help in marketing the business. When she met them (including Max), it is said to have been love at first sight. Max called her the following day and declared his undying love for her. They both ended their relationships to be with each other.

Sophie met Lichaba’s relatives and confirmed that he was no longer in a relationship.

A relative confirmed that the two would be joined during the Miss Lichaba Legacy Beauty Pageant, organised by Sophie.

Sophie Ndaba to bring the ‘real’ her to our screens

Sophie Ndaba is hard at work. This is to ensure the reality show she is working on makes it to the screens next year.

The reality show, she says, is unlike anything being done in South Africa. Sophie also revealed that she has been in negotiations with several broadcasters to air the show.

“It is going to be very different. Not like Being Bonang or Somizi’s show. It won’t be all about my life, but it is still very me and I have no doubt my fans will love it.”

Transition

The show is part of Sophie’s move to production.

“I have produced a number of projects and I have slowly been moving into that direction. It is exciting to have this idea and be able to run with it. Now, all we need is for it to find a suitable home,” she added.

Sophie has also produced a drama series, where she plays the lead. She is pitching it to stations at the moment.

“I believe in these projects and I am not in a rush. I don’t mind waiting for as long as it takes to see them come alive,” she said.

In the meantime, she is building her events company and working on films like the upcoming movie She Is King.
