Fallen Miss World Nyamira Mercy Mokeira has today being buried at her parents’ home in Ekerenyo, Nyamira County.

Mercy Mokeira died on January 28^th at North Kinangop Catholic Hospital after a short battle with thyroid disease.

The remains of the fallen Miss World Nyamira County 2016 left Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru County for her parents’ home in Ekerenyo on Thursday February 9^th.

Local residents in Mokeira’s home village today gathered at Ekerenyo Stadium for the funeral service of Miss World Nyamira.

Former Miss Nyamira Mercy Mokeira’s burial ceremony is currently on going as I jot down this.

It’s happening at her home in her parents’ home in Ekerenyo Sub-County in Nyamira County after the body left Umash Funeral Home in Nakuru County yesterday.

Kenyans have rushed to social media to pay their last respects to the fallen model and the #farewellmissnyamira is currently trending on twitter.

The Miss World Kenya Nyamira County Mercy Mokeira who got to national spotlight after her photos with Lang’ata Women Prison inmates went viral passed on 28^th, January 2017.

The 23-year-old vibrant model died at North Kinangop Hospital where she was undergoing treatment for an undisclosed disease.

“She complained of muscle pains but preliminary results failed to show the disease she was suffering from. We then sent for more tests but she died before we got the results back,” Josphat Momanyi, her father, said.

The young model was admitted to hospital after she complained of muscle pains.

The news saddened the county’s leadership, which considered her an important figure in the community.

“This is a great loss to our county. We are saddened beyond words,” Jones Omwenga, a member of the County Executive in Nyamira, eulogized her.

Ms Mercy Mokeira was to graduate from Kenyatta University in June this year with a Bachelor Degree in Law.

Mercy Mokeira truly made a mark in many people’s lives as it has clearly demonstrated on social media and she will be missed by many including myself- having interacted with the lass a couple of times in our office.

Mercy Mokeira’s sudden death has come as a shock to many including her friend, Miss World Siaya County.

Miss World Nyamira County, Mercy Mokeira, passed away on Saturday 28^th 2017 after a short battle with a rare disease.

A source close to the fallen beauty queen revealed that she succumbed to a disease called ‘Maple’ which makes it difficult for one’s body to process certain protein building blocks (amino acids) properly.

Miss World Siaya, Shay Halima, has mourned her fallen friend; Shay and Mercy were trolled by KOT last year when they posed with two hot convicts at Langata Women prison.

Shay expressed shock and disbelief after learning about Mokeira’s death;

Miss Kenya Nyamira county, Mercy Mokeira passed on this passed weekend after a short illness as reported by her family. The model died at the age of 23 years at the North Kinangop Hospital after battling with Marple’s, an inherited disorder in which the body is unable to process certain protein building blocks (amino acids) properly.

The model was pronounced dead at 11:30am on Saturday after being in hospital for almost two weeks. Her death came as a shock to her family,friends and colleagues who are still finding it hard to accept she is gone at such a oung age.

Through it all, even on her death bed the late Miss Kenya Nyamira was still trusting God for healing. Her last Whatsapp update was a short prayer where she was seen hoping that she would be healed.

However, she finally rested and was relieved of the pain her dad said she was complaining of. Her father, Josephat Momanyi, revealed his late daughter fell ill after a short trip to Tanzania, speaking to eDaily he said…

My daughter Mercy Mokeira’s health problem began when she returned to Nairobi from a function in Tanzania mid December 2016. She called me on phone and said she had symptoms of malaria. She also told me that she had visited medical facilities, but the doctors would see nothing wrong with her health.

But on Saturday afternoon his other daughter called him from North Kinangop Hospital informing him that Mokeira was no more.

On Saturday morning, I was yet to receive the results. Her sister told me Mercy Mokeira had woken up well but she was complaining of excessive body heat. At around 4:00pm Saturday, her sister called me on phone while crying and told me that Mokeira had not been talking and was pronounced dead at 11:30am. I called a doctor at North Kinangop Hospital who confirmed the heartbreaking news.

Mercy Mokeira became an instant sensation after she visited Langata Women Prison on International Women’s Day 2016 alongside Miss World Siaya.

A photo of Mercy and Shay Halima (Miss World Siaya) posing with two hot inmates at Langata prison went viral online as coldhearted Kenyans ruthlessly trolled the two.

Miss World Nyamira passed on over the weekend; media reports indicate that Mercy Mokeira died on Saturday 28^th 2017 at 11:30am.

A source close to Mokeira revealed that the beauty queen succumbed to a disease called ‘Maple’. The source posted substantial details surrounding the death of Mercy;

“Mercy Mokeira fell unwell in December last year, she was taken to Kijabe Mission Hospital where she was complaining neck pains. She was diagnosed suffering from thyroids. After medication she got better and went home. On mid- January she felt unwell and taken to a hospital in Gilgil then referred to North Kinangop Catholic Hospital where she wasn’t diagnosed with no ailment. At this time she was fatigued that she wouldn’t even talk or do anything by herself. Her blood samples were taken and sent to Nairobi for testing. On Wednesday this week the results shown that she was ailing something her sister told me was ‘marples’. She was put under medication till she died today Saturday 28th, at 11:30am this morning.”
