Kenyans attack Governor Mike Sonko, NEMA over Closure of Top city Clubs
Governor Mike Sonko’s haphazardness in closing down and parroting a campaign of malice and threats against some top City night spots has left the owners of the facilities and the many employees they employ reeling in sheer losses and uncertainties.
After his announcement on social media, that City nightclubs that allegedly cause noise disturbances in the estates will be closed down, revelers and businessmen alike have strongly attacked the Governor and censured him for the reckless and random way in which the exercise is being conducted.
Popular City clubs Space Lounge, B-Club, Kiza Lounge and the swanky Jiweke Tavern have all come under immense attack after the environmental regulatory body NEMA decided to shut them – and/or threatened to shut them – for what was termed as noise pollution.
The Governor, whose Deputy resigned yesterday in a huff, has found himself in some serious deep waters after Nairobians rose up in arms in protest of the move to close down the clubs which have been in existence for quite a long time.
“I have been going to Kiza Lounge and B-Club for years now. Those clubs operate from the insides of a building and are both very soundproofed. Infact, Kiza Lounge itself is on the 7th floor. What noise do it pollute? To who?? ” posed Linda Wanjiru, on Facebook.
Martin Kimotho, a resident of Zimmerman, said, “In Zimmerman, we have so many noisy clubs all around the estates. We also have some very noisy mabati churches that blare loud music and keshas every week disturbing the neighborhood. Why aren’t those clubs being shut down? Why don’t the residents of Zimmerman matter to The Governor? This is all politics. You cannot pretend to shut down clubs in rich neighborhoods and leave the noisiest ones in the other estates. This is dirty politics! Simple and clear!”
The Governor, and the NEMA outfit have found themselves in a tight spot after attracting rebuke and condemnation from Nairobians and nightclub stakeholders.
“By closing down and snatching the licences of Jiweke Tavern, Space Lounge, B-Club and Kiza Lounge, some 3,500 Kenyans have effectively been rendered jobless and are now languishing at home. This is not what job creation means Mr Governor,” a Club investor spoke in anonymity.
As the Nairobi politics heats up, Nairobians, most of whom are regular and ardent patrons of Space Lounge, Jiweke Tavern et al, are waiting to see what the Nairobi County Government does next.
And they are definitely not ready for some stupid explanation from anyone. On anything.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko revealed Peter Kenneth was his number one enemy, he loathes him so much that he used VERY crude words to insult him in an interview on Citizen TV with Hussein Mohamed.
But extreme hatred hasn’t always been the case between Peter Kenneth and Mike Sonko, there was a time when the latter used to think highly of the former.
In a damning 53 second audio taken from the archives, Mike Sonko is heard praising Peter Kenneth’s track record during his time as Gatanga MP. Sonko also endorsed PK for Nairobi gubernatorial seat – this was after he was asked to respond to Jubilee loyalists who didn’t want him to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
“Hio ni yao, watu wasiongee wandani wa Jubilee. Hao watu kama wana akili badala ya kunitusi mimi watafute tu mtu mmoja, yule mimi naheshimu na mimi naskiza na ni my role model…anaitwa Uhuru Kenyatta rais wa jamhuri ya Kenya. Waende kwa Uhuru wamwambie Sonko awache hii kiti na Uhuru akiniambia niwache, mimi nitawacha… Kama ni kuleta mtu, tutatafuta wale watu wanasimama urais, mtu kama Peter Kenneth. Huyo tunaweza leta Nairobi tusaidie yeye. Huyo ni mtu ata akiwa Gatanga, CDF yake ilikuwa namba moja Kenya nzima. Ni mtu anajali maendeleo na maslahi ya Kenya. Mike Sonko’s albinism insult made on Citizen TV rubs Isaac Mwaura the wrong way… This is the ultimatum he issued
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko had a meltdown on Citizen TV during an interview with Hussein Mohamed – the controversial lawmaker went on rampage insulting his opponent Peter Kenneth.
Among several sickening things Sonko said was an outrageous claim that Kenneth had albinism. The Nairobi Senator referred Kenneth as an ‘albino’ just because of his skin color.
Sonko’s nauseating remark irked nominated MP Isaac Mwaura who was utterly shocked by the senator’s audacity to use albinism condition in derogatory terms on a national television.
Mwaura issued an ultimatum to Sonko to apologize to people living with albinism, he said abusing people because of their skin colour was against the constitution of which he says Sonko swore to uphold and protect when he was elected Nairobi Senator.
“Mike Mbuvi Sonko must in no equivocal terms apologize for demonizing and abusing Hon Peter Kenneth using the God given status of albinism. Its totally uncalled for to use our condition in derogatory terms in order to settle political scores. Mr Sonko should know that persons with albinism are Kenyans too and who have a right to be elected into any office. He should avoid misleading his supporters that Hon Kenneth has albinism. To abuse people because of their skin colour is to go against article 27 of the constitution of which the elected senator of nairobi swore to uphold and protect. The Albinism Society of KENYA shall issue a further statement on this tomorrow. Kenyans of mixed race have a right too. Sonko should also tell us of what he thinks of our dear first lady Margaret Kenyatta and even President Barrack Obama,” Isaac Mwaura wrote.

Jubilee is experiencing infightings as two factions have emerged to support candidates they want to fly the party’s flag in the race for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
One faction (which mostly comprises of legislators from Mount Kenya region) is supporting Peter Kenneth while the other is rooting for Mike Sonko.
Sonko’s critics and haters, including powerful individuals within the government, have been peddling lies about him and using their influence to block him from getting certificate of good conduct.
“Thanks be to God. I just got my Certificate of Good Conduct this evening. The devil shall continue to be defeated in Jesus’ Mighty name. I want to tell my rivals within Jubillee Party that even the so called Kibaki handlers at the OP rejected President Uhuru but he still became the President of Kenya. It is on this breath that i am telling you bwana PS wa hio powerful ministry that if you want to join politics just quit and come to the ground tupambane instead of creating unnecessary obstacles on my path by trying to block the clearance of my certificate of good conduct. You, your so called project and the incumbent Mps have no right to decide on behalf of 2,304,286 registered voters. Let me be rejected by the people and not you and Mps who are even not sure of their re-election. I believe in the power of the people and God,” Mike Sonko wrote after he finally got the certificate of good conduct.
The most popular lie Sonko’s detractors have been selling to the mass is about his qualifications; they argued that the Nairobi Senator had forged his academic certificates.
Sonko reacted by sharing copies of his original academic certificates and all other certificates needed to show he has the required credentials to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.

Mike Sonko: My daughter had a problem with her boyfriend, she was chased and I welcomed her back into my home
Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has revealed more details about Saumu Mbuvi’s breakup with her fiancé Benson Gatu.
Speaking to journalists at what appeared to be Citizen TV office, the flamboyant lawyer said he wouldn’t chase away her daughter as she was his blood.
Sonko expressed utmost joy for becoming a young grandfather, he said he was VERY proud of his daughter Saumu and her granddaughter Zaha.

The Nairobi Senator also disclosed that Benson Gatu chased Saumu out of his house, he revealed he will be going with his daughter to his home once she’s discharged from the hospital.
“My daughter had a problem with the fiancé… boyfriend. I love my daughter. She was chased by the husband… I welcomed her back into my home. She’s my daughter, I love her… she’s my blood. I cannot chase her away because she had a disagreement with her boyfriend. She gave birth… she’s coming back home… and I love her… I love the daughter Zaha… I have no problem with my daughter…and i am going to love her more… I love my family and my daughter… It’s a normal family problem…It’s normal part of love to have domestic issues. Wrangles are there , i cannot refuse my daughter because she has give birth,” Sonko said in part.
When he was asked about what he thinks of Benson Gatu, Sonko said that he will forgive him for everything he did to his daughter Saumu. He said he held no grudge against him because breakups and misunderstandings were part of love and every relationship goes through its own challenges.
“He messed up with my daughter maybe one day he will come and ask for forgiveness. And i will forgive him. If God forgives, who is Sonko not to forgive. I will forgive him.”

Sonko forced to reveal where he was after Kenya Union of Journalists linked him to goon attack on Kidero’s convoy which saw 3 Mediamax journalists get hurt
Yesterday January 25th, violent youth attacked Governor Evans Kidero’s convoy in Dandora. Even though the Nairobi governor wasn’t hurt, three journalists from Mediamax, (Sarah Ndungu, Patrick Kimanthi and Charles Mathai) who were on assignment, were injured during the fracas.
Mike Sonko has come out with guns blazing to deny claims by Kenya Union of Journalists that he had something to do with the violence.
The Nairobi senator issued a statement explaining that he was with President Uhuru far away from Nairobi urging Kenyans to register as voters when Kidero’s convoy was being attacked in Dandora.
“It is with deep shock that the Kenya Union of Journalists has today without verifying facts linked me to the violence that erupted during a political meeting convened by Dr. Evans Kidero in Dandora estate.”
“I wish to first condemn such acts of hooliganism and violence against innocent journalists who were on assignment. I wish them quick recovery. However, I wish to challenge KUJ for failing to carry out serious investigations on who might have invited the youths against the journalists.”
“Rushing to mention me without any meaningful investigations is only meant to tarnish my good name and to portray me as a violent leader.”
“It is very unfortunate that my name is being dragged into this silly incident yet by the time this was happening I was with H.E the president in Kitui, Embu, Runyenjes, Siakago and Kirinyaga for voters registration exercise.”

Mike Sonko was baited by an article on the Sunday Standard and he fell for it; he had to issue an official statement.
There has been friction in Jubilee ever since Peter Kenneth announced his bid to vie for Nairobi gubernatorial seat.
Sonko, who until Kenneth’s announcement of his candidature was the most likely candidate to win Jubilee ticket, has not been pleaded by claims he’s shelving his political ambitions for his main rival.
Enraged Sonko took to the social media to issue a statement clarifying his position in the race for Nairobi gubernatorial seat;
“It has come to my attention that some malicious politicians are out to confuse our supporters and the great people of Nairobi City County that the Jubilee Party has struck a deal on a line up for the August elections.”
“Reports appearing in the Sunday Standard claiming that I have withdrawn from the gubernatorial race and accepted to be Peter Kenneth’s running mate or defend my senatorial seat is a joke of the year.”
“I wish to urge our supporters in Team Nairobi and Jubilee Party members to ignore such propaganda aimed at confusing voters.”
“Further, I wish to assure my supporters that no such arrangement has been reached and that I am fully prepared and ready to face any opponent during the Jubilee Party nominations. I swear and undertake to support whoever the party members will nominate to fly the Jubilee gubernatorial flag.”
“On the same note, I wish to plead with my fellow competitors to concede defeat and back whoever will be picked to fly the Nairobi Jubilee gubernatorial flag.”
“Those invoking the name of H.E Uhuru Kenyatta for their own selfish political gains must stop forthwith.”
“My respect and loyalty to President remains intact and I am sure and aware that at no given time had he endorsed any candidate for the seat or any other seat.”
“Let us refrain from making reckless statements claiming to have the blessings of the President.”
“Let us conduct mature and peaceful campaigns and let the Jubilee Party members nominate a candidate of their choice.”
“However, attempting to impose any leader on the electorate by invoking the President’s name will not be tolerated and will only backfire and give our opponent Daktari yet another chance to take control of our Great City.”
“It is therefore important that we pull together as Team Nairobi to ensure we deliver maximum seats in the forthcoming elections,” Sonko’s statement read.

“Apeleke Ujinga na huko” Sonko proclaimed in the Kikuyu Station which has come under fire from Kenyans for preaching ethnicity and tribalism.
Peter Kenneth’s entry into the race has sent chills and destabilization within the Jubilee team with many seeing him as the best candidate to battle against Kidero in Nairobi. He promises to bring managerial skills and the much needed expertise which will tackle Nairobi’s problems.
Initially Sonko kept his cool on the matter but when prodded by the presenter, Gatonye wa Mbugua, that’s when he confessed how Peter Kenneth and his team called him for a meeting and offered him to pay him just to shelf off his gubernatorial ambitions and support him instead.
And the guy was offering a cool 1 billion which was to be paid in installments of first 300 million thrice and then 100 million twice.
Sonko alleges he turned down the offer as his love for Nairobians could not be equated to any figure.

Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko last Sunday January 15th flew to Mathioya to campaign for his future son-in-law who has expressed interest to run for a political seat in 2017.
Sonko’s eldest daughter, Saumu Mbuvi, is engaged to Benson Gatu; the two are already expecting their first child any time this year.
Mr. Gatu has expressed interest to vie for Mathioya parliamentary seat in 2017 general elections. The 25-year-old lawyer by profession is lucky since he has the support of Jubilee top gun.
Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Murang’a Women Rep Sabina Wanjiru Chege, Dagoretti South MP Dennis Waweru, Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure kindiki etc were some of the famous politician who hit the campaign trail in Mathioya alongside Sonko and Gatu.
The leaders were in Mathioya to launch voter registration month, but that didn’t stop them from campaigning for Gatu.
Sonko’s son who scored 399 marks in 2016 KCPE enrolled at a prestigious national school
Gift Osinya was among pupils who excelled in 2016 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE). He joined a national school today.
Sonko enrolled Gift Osinya to Bethlehem academy in Ruiru after he adopted him alongside his younger brother, Baby Satrin Osinya.
Gift managed to score 399 marks in 2016 KCPE; the impressive score enabled him meet the requirements for joining a national school.
A jovial Mike Sonko announced Gift had joined Lenana National School to pursue his secondary education.
“I wish to take this opportunity on behalf of my lovely Wife and on my own behalf to congratulate my adopted son Gift Osinya the boy who rescued his younger brother Satrin during terror attack in which their mother was brutally murdered. Gift scored an A Plain in 2016 KCPE and was today officially enrolled at Lenana School in form one,” Sonko wrote.
Gift was admitted at the prestigious school today January 8th; Sonko’s wife accompanied her adopted son to Lenana.

In a society that upholds academic performance while dismissing “failures” most non performers are left out in the cold with nobody to look out for them.

Sonko has since followed suite first of all encouraging Boniface Mwangi and praising him for his work at Pawa 254. This is what he posted:
“To those who got Grades C and below I say; let nobody discourage you!” said Sonko in a long Facebook post meant to encourage Mwangi and other candidates.
Examination results should not & cannot define you so wacheni kuliza boniface mwangi amepata nini he has created more jobs through his company pawa 254.”

Y’all remember that time, about a year ago when Hassan Joho almost came to blows with Senator Mike Sonko in front of president Uhuru when he was in a month’s tour in the Coastal region?
Well, there might be an explanation for that and it’s coming straight from the horses mouth, his own father.
Mzee Joho has spoken about his son for the first time in an exclusive interview and he described him as fierce character who’s not afraid to say what’s on his mind something he might have inherited from his late mother.
“Ukali anao, lakini mimi najaribu kumcool namwambia usifanye ukali, si vizuri. Wewe ni mwanasiasa (He is strict, fierce, but I always try to cool him down and tell him to be calm. You are a politician),” Mzee Joho told Citizen TV.
And true to that, Hassan Joho has been one of the greatest critics of the Jubilee government and one of Raila’s Odinga trusted generals.
