Men Caught Trying To Sell Crocodile Eggs.

Some people in this country really love to play with fire. Two men have been caught, trying to misuse our natural resources. Thanks to Natural Resource Conservation Network, and the Uganda Police Trying Squad, the two were caught trying to sell crocodile eggs. The men were identified as 30 year old Onyutho Patrick and 46 year old Byansi Jackob.  The eggs they were tampering with were 36 in total.

THE CHARGES ON THE THIEVES

From our sources, we have confirmed that they have been charged with illegal possession of wildlife protected species contrary to sections 30 and 75(b) of the Uganda Wildlife Act.  They have also been charged with Conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 390 of the Penal Code Act.

The Uganda Natural Resource Conservation Network shared a fact about crocodile reproduction;

“A female crocodile can lay up to 60 eggs at a time. These eggs are large, with a hard shell. They take about three months to hatch. If the temperature in the nest is less than 32 degrees Celsius, the baby crocodiles will be female. If the temperature is between 32 and 33 degrees the babies will be male. When the crocodiles hatch out of the eggs, the mother will carry them in her mouth to the water. Only a very small number of them survive in the wild and grow to be adult crocodiles.”
