Ugandan Born Actress, Sheila Atim Grabs Accolade For Best Supporting Actress at the Laurence Olivier Awards

As the Black Panther Uganda Craze calms down, another actress rises up. Meet Sheila Atim. This young lady took home an accolade for Best Supporting Actress at the Laurence Olivier Awards. She won for her wonderful show in the musical, Girl From The North Country.

“The show was created with a lot of love, a lot of passion, a lot of creative generosity and so it’s nice to know that we’re getting that back,” she mentioned to Vogue Magazine UK, before the ceremony.

THE LAURENCE OLIVIER AWARDS

The Laurence Olivier Awards, are presented annually by the Society of London Theater. It recognizes excellence in professional theater. Our sources indicate that the awards were originally known as the Society of West End Theater Awards, but later renamed in honor of the British actor Laurence Olivier in 1984.

ABOUT SHEILA ATIM

Sheila is a Ugandan born actress, who by the age of 26, has earned herself a degree in biomedical science at King’s College London. She wanted to be a medical doctor, but with influence from her music and drama study at a not-for-profit performance arts school, Wac Arts College, she is taking another direction. Various reports indicate that this was the same school that gave birth to Oscar nominee, Daniel kaluuya.
