Shoprite Cuts Prices To Up to 50% on Black Friday

We saw the advert, and if we missed out on the 24th November deals, then it was nobody else’s fault but ours. Shoprite pleased it’s customers with a mega Christmas sale, that had prices cut up to 50%, on Black Friday.

ABOUT BLACK FRIDAY

Black Friday, an American tradition that describes the day after Thanksgiving Thursday, was first adopted by this chain of Supermarkets in Uganda. Shoprite advertised that in all its branches, customers will recieve a handsome discount on items on Black Friday.

Items like soda bottles, and different household materials were all being sold off at a price lower than usual. The lines at the counters were long as many struggled to get their items through.

From inside, the crowds spread till the roads. This caused alot of Jam around especially clock tower, as people squeezed through cars and boda body’s carrying people from work on a busy Friday evening.

Our sources confirmed that majority of the buyers were shop owners, brokers, and businessmen whose intentions were to resell the items after purchase. Indeed black Friday fulfilled it’s purpose in the country, and gave people a special Friday in preparation for the festive season.

Other people, especially boda boda men took advantage of the situation. Transport costs were thus hiked from the supermarket, to other destinations. Many were also seen loading goodies on the back of theor different trucks for transportation. It was an unbelievable moment for Ugandans in Kampala, but indeed one to remember.
