Star Struck Tuesday:Joshua Cheptegei

Uganda might just have some of the world’s fastest Ugandans, as we have seen. Joshua Cheptegei has made his country proud again.

Joshua

He is young, and a star in the making, because he has taken advantage of the talent that God has given him, to represent himself, his family, and the entire country at large.

Last Sunday, Joshua, only aged 21, was in Nijmegen, Netherlands, for the 34th Seven hills race zevenheuvelebloop, busy showing people the worth of our country.

A distance of 15km was not a challenge at all, and this young man from Kapchorwa proved it by driving a sharp sword right into the heart of the race.

Joshua was the first, and beat his comrades at a speed faster than lightening. It is said from various sources that the young star missed out on the world record by only 3 seconds.

Joshua’s star days started way back. He was a world Junior champion in the 10,000 meter race at Eugene in 2014. In addition to that, he also became a silver medalist at the IAAF world champions 10,000 meter race in London, 2017.

Our various sources also confirm that at just the age of Nineteen, Cheptegei had already embraced the Nijmegen races. He won the 32nd edition at a time of 42.39 and as a 20 year old, won the 33rd edition in 42.12.

For the 34th this year, Cheptegei has scored at 41.16. He indeed owns these zevenheuvelebloop races. Congratulations to you Cheptegei Joshua. You are a star and we celebrate you this Tuesday.
