Kale Kayihura Recieving High profile Visitors in Prison

Brigadier Richard Kalemire, the UPDF spokesperson says Kale Kayihura is in good shape, perfect health and accessible to his family and lawyers despite media reports that former policeman was ill and had asked to seek treatment abroad.

“Kale is our General and we take good care of our Generals. His welfare is our priority. That is why I told those media [Bukedde] people stop writing bad things about him,” Karemire said.

Kayihura is currently being detained at Makindye Military Barracks living in the house of the barracks commandant. He has 24-hour military surveillance and is allowed to watch television, read newspapers and step out only to the verandah of the house.

High profile visitors
According to our exclusive sources, Kayihura has received a number of high profile visitors including General Caleb Akandwanaho alias Salim Saleh with an objective to broker a deal with the government that would see Kayihura regain his freedom.

“He does not want to talk to anyone other than the President,” our sources revealed implying that the Kayihura-Saleh meeting did not yield any positive results.

Although he was arrested alongside other high ranking police officers that he worked closely with such as Herbert Muhangi, Col Atwooki Ndahura, Kayihura is being held alone.

No interrogation or statement yet Hon. Elly Karuhanga, a senior partner at Kampala Associated Advocates (KAA), the law firm representing Kayihura say government had neither preferred any charges against their client nor recorded a statement about his arrest.

“It is not true that the general has been interrogated. As a matter of fact, he hasn’t even recorded an ink of statement yet. He does not know why he is being held,”
Karuhanga said.

Karuhanga further revealed that as a soldier, Kayihura is allowed to exercise, read books and watch television adding that the General was angry by how the local media have covered stories surrounding his arrest.

“The media has mastered the smear campaign against Kayihura. He has been charged with murder, espionage, treason, kidnaps among other heinous crimes when the courts have not charged him with any,” he added.

Despite his irregular detention, Karuhanga said that his client has not instructed the firm to apply for habeas corpus – a constitutional provision that a person arrested but not charged within 48 hours can walk free.

Andrew Kaweesi Family speaks Out on Impending Kale Kayihura Doom

Relatives of the late AIGP, Andrew Felix Kaweesi have expressed mixed reactions over the arrest of former IGP Gen. Kale Kayihura. The General was arrested over the gruesome murder of his former deputy.

According to some of the relatives, they are in shock because some of the officers that were arrested have been supporting the family.

We are still in shock. It is so surprising. But if it is true that the officers arrested were implicated in the murder of Kaweesi, then it is so disappointing because these officers have been there for the family,” a relative  told New Vision.

When they reached to the late Kaweesi’s wife at the Kisaasi home, she stated that she was not in a good condition to comment on the matter.

The arrest came as relief to other relatives of the late AIGP like his brother Leo Ruhinda.

“We are happy that arrests have been made and we are ready to face them in court,” Ruhinda told New Vision.

“He said they had come up with a list of 25 suspects, who included Kayihura and his close men, and had been trying to meet President Yoweri Museveni or any other high ranking official in the Government in vain.Of all the people on his list, only five have not been arrested,“ New Vision reported.

Kale Kayihura wife speaks Out, denies Lawyers

Wife to Gen Kale Kayihura, Angella has denied claims by prominent lawyer  Caleb Alaka that they were blocked from accessing the embattled general. Angella Kayihura says the lawyer does not represent Gen. Kayihura.

Gen Kayihura’s and our only lawyers are M/s Kampala Associated Advocates.”

“Gen Kayihura’s lawyers and his family have todate had unfettered access to him…any queries regarding this matter should be addressed to M/s Kampala Associated Advocates”, she stated.

Stella Nyanzi Couldnt hide her excitment over Kale Kayihura Sacking

President Museveni’s  move to drop Kale Kayihura as Inspector General of Police has taken Ugandans by surprise. While several are mute over the decision, controversial professor turned FDC woman, Dr. Stella Nyanzi is excited by Kale Kayihura’s sacking.

She literally ululated after getting the news! While her Facebook page is usually decorated by fine prose and poetry, this time, she simply stripped naked in excitement.

“Wuuuuulululululu Kale Kayihura wuuuuu!
Wuuuuulululululu Kale Kayihura wuuuuu!
Wuuuuulululululu Kale Kayihura wuuuuu!”, she posted.

Nyanzi has never been one to keep her opinions to herself especially about the ruling regime. Her disdain for former IGP  Kayihura is unmatched which even caused her a brush with authorities.

In the mini-reshuffle, President Museveni appointed General Elly Tumwiine as Minister for Security and Mr. Okoth Ochola as Inspector General of Police. Brigadier Sabiiti Muzeei is Deputy Inspector General of Police.
