“I Am Here To Revive my Career” Rachel K

If you lived in the early 2000s you must know Rachel K. She recently returned from the US after 6years away and this her first interview on celeb select with Crystal Newman.

Q; Rachel, how does it feel to be back home after six years?

A; Honestly I had missed home. It feels so good that I am back after all those years in the states. Every time I would be in the there, I would have that feeling that I needed to be back home. Here, I live my life. I knew one day I would fly back. I would even tell my elder brother ( Hemdee) that I missed Uganda. So I feel great I am back here.

Q; When in Uganda, You and your mum (Maama Halima Namakula) are always together why so?

A; Hehehe… My mum is my only best friend. We share so much and she is the one who has been behind my music career. I remember she is the one who told me that I can sing. I can recall many years back, we were together moving in the car here and a Rihana song played, I started singing along and that’s when she realised I could sing. Ever since then, she has been so supportive musically up to now. in the US, she used to pay us visits. We are inseparable.

Q; How has it been like in the US?

A; For the past years, I have been doing lots. I went back to school and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in communications. It wasn’t easy though but I had to make it. You know in life, you can have lots of things but education is the key. I have my degree and no one can take it away from me. Now I know I made the right decision to halt my Music career here six years back.

Q; So, coming back to Uganda, did you experience a cultural shock?

A; Ohh yeah.. Uganda has changed a lot. There are many arcades around, many buildings around and the music industry seems to be on a higher level. The last time I was here, it was a little different but this time around its too much. Uganda has developed.

Q; So when you came back to Uganda the last time, what did you start on?

A; The last time I was here, I went straight to the studio. I was signed to NO End Entertainment. I remember I released a hit “ Every time I turn around”, I tried out TV presenting on WBS TV with JK Kazoora on Jam Agenda, I also went on the radio with Hot100 FM and XFM. I pretty had so much to do. I am just doing a flashback. With all that I had at hand, back on my mind, I knew I needed to get back to school and get my degree so I had to put all at hold and left to the US for my studies.

Q; So, now that you are fully here, what are your immediate plans?

A; I am already doing much. I have been to different studios recording songs. I am getting back to singing and on top of that, I want to start visiting schools and universities reaching out to young students and share with them how education is important. Those are the two projects I am starting on immediately.

Q; Lastly, with so much work and projects on you, are you dating?

A; I do have a few friends I share my life with but I am not dating anyone. I am only trying to focus on my career.

Dont You Miss Rachel K

Among the faces that appeared then disappeared is Rachel Kiwanuka, aka Rachel K.

Rachel K is a daughter to popular Ugandan Musician, Halima Namakula, and had gone abroad to study before returning to unleash a music career in Uganda.

Miss Rachel

Having spent most of her time in the United States, she had grown into their culture and the type of music she presented was with a pop mixed RnB/ Rock touch.

Despite the fact that Rachel K was a superstar, or born to be one, her musical success however did not last long in the country.  Some of her songs include liar, Kamuwane and many others. She had many collaborations with different Ugandan artists including Radio and Weasle and Irene Namubiru, Rachel K also went  ternational with her music and made collaborations with outside artistes.

She was also not only into music, but a TV presenter too, and featured in shows such as Jam Agenda, and was one of the judges in Tucker Project Fame.

On her Facebook page, it is an indicator that this Rockstar could be coming back to the country.

she wrote, ” can’t wait to be in Uganda”

We however do not know why. Could it be to see her family only? or could this be a major comeback for the artist.

We love you Rachel K. Can’t wait!
