Jazz Safari Pays foward to the Handicapped

Selected as the beneficiary of the annual jazz event’s charity initiative for this year, the school has had specialised equipment set up to help supplement the learning efforts and skills of the school’s disabled pupils.

Charity initiatives of this nature have been a feature of the Jazz Safari since 2011, with support rendered to different causes through the Rotary Clubs of Uganda. And the latest beneficiary of this helping hand is the Balintuma Road-based school, which during the ongoing second term received equipment valued at £50,000 (about Shs250m).

The equipment was obtained through friends and a partnership with Disc Manufacturing Services, a new specialist ICT center based in England.

“Our partnership has been flourishing and we look forward to reaching as far as taking up staff welfare at the school for the next five years with an annual donation of £2,500. Renovations are ongoing at the school as well,” said Tshaka Mayanja, the Jazz Safari founder.

The Jazz Safari has also championed causes in projects such as farming in Ssese Islands under Rotary Kampala-Ssese Club. For several years they have also worked with the Rotary Clubs Cancer Ward at Nsambya Hospital, dedicating a ward named after the late Maureen Mugoya; The Maureen Mugoya Breast Cancer Ward.

Prophet Elvis Mbonye protests eviction from lugogo cricket Oval

Prophet Elvis Mbonye (Zoe Ministries) through his lawyers Namara Twenda and Company advocates has filed a case against IGG’s decision  in the High Court to compel National Council of Sports (NCS) to uphold a two year contract between the two parties for the occupancy of the Cricket Oval grounds for weekly Tuesday prayer meetings.

“In this case, IGG acted on a complaint allegedly of Uganda Cricket Association (UCA) and decided to suspend Zoe fellowshipers from worshiping through a letter dated 5th June, 2018 without inviting them to any hearing. This therefore amounted to procedural impropriety since there is failure to fairly on her part, stated Catherine Namara Matsiko of Namara Twenda and Company advocates.

This came in after the Inspectorate of Government (IGG) Irene Mulyagonja Kakooza directed the National Council Of Sports (NCS) to suspend their contract with Zoe ministries for the use of the Lugogo Cricket Oval last week.

Prophet Mbonye argues that whatever the purported biases and concern, the IGG could carry out investigations without breaching the contract in which the ministries and NCS agreed to at least a month’s notification in case of termination. IGG suspends prophet Mbonye ZOE fellowship from Cricket Oval

Inspectorate of Government (IGG) Irene Mulyagonja Kakooza has directed the National Council Of Sports (NCS) to suspend their contract with Prophet Elvis Mbonye’s ZOE ministries for the use of the Lugogo Cricket Oval.

This came after it was specifically alleged that the Lugogo Cricket Oval was irregularly contracted out by the NCS for the use of the ZOE fellowship ministries for its massive public prayer rallies on Tuesday nights much to the detriment and prejudice of the state of the grounds and ultimately the activities of the Uganda Cricket Association (UCA).

UCA alleges that the grounds had been contracted out without due regard to legal requirements for procurement and disposal of public assets and that the implementation of the terms of this contract will stifle the activities for the various cricket teams and make it impossible for them to prepare for the various tournaments because they will retain the use of the grounds for only two out of the seven days of each week for the duration of the contract.

“This will be particularly prejudicial because unlike ZOE fellowship which can find another place of worship, cricketers cannot play cricket in any other  place because there is none suited to practicing for and playing their game,’’ IGG  added.

Although he does not reveal what is ailing him, he captions the picture with a crying emoji which has led his fans into flooding his timeline with get-well-soon messages. For now it is suspected that Kenzo has, as usual, over worked himself. Which reminds us…..there were some rumors some time back about Rema complaining that her hubby is never at home.

Maybe Mama has sent a signal to Eddy Kenzo. It could be time to take a break, buy a ring and get down on one knee before mama Amaal. But no pressure Kenzo. We love you and get well soon!

She claims she has failed to make a breakthrough because men are more interested in her body than music.

She took to her social media and posted, “It is hard working with men. People are always asking for sex and they don’t take you seriously as a female artiste. I just need to put in a lot of work. As much as I sacrifice a lot, there are other things I cannot sacrifice. I have been in the industry for long and people ask for sex but I refuse and that is why I have not risen so fast.”

Well, we are not sure of which men work with Pia Pounds but she only know she works with Eddy Kenzo.

Balaam Under fire for killing a Python in His farm

Over the weekend, Balaam’s employees killed a python that they found in his farm in Masindi. It is not yet clear how it happened, but a picture of Balaam’s farm men posing with the dead python leaked onto social media. This infuriated Abbey Rafsanjan, a former scribe and US based environmentalist who went on a long Facebook rant that spanned for hours.

“This is appalling, disgusting, repulsive and downright dumb. For someone like Mr Balaam Barugahara who has gone to school, travelled and been blessed with so much exposure to condone and even celebrate this kind of act is sheer disturbing, to say the least. Now imagine someone who is not as exposed. You guys have never heard of UWEC of Mr James Musinguzi or UWA of Mr Stephen Masaba, right?…”

Balaam’s friends and other social media followers came to his defense saying that snakes are dangerous and therefore can’t co-exist with human beings like Rafsanjan wanted them to.

Flavia Milly Lanyero: “I need some education; “the python had encircled on of the farmers”. So the python should have been left to eat the farmer?? Am confused.”

Namara Catherine Masiko: “Oh how the mighty have fallen!! Men are killing each other over a python, mbu animal rights, my foot. In my world I have dominion over the animals on the land creepers, fowl of the air and fish of the sea. Animal rights! Crap! Crap!”

Levin S Sentongo: “Am I assured that if I spot a Python in my garden or house n I call UWA guys they will reach in 5mins wherever I myt be staying? What guarantee do I have that the python will also be there waiting for the wildlife guys to come capture it? Will I be giving lunch or massaging it during that time as we wait for the wildlife guys?”

Courts Demand Written submission from Bobi Wine after dragging Govt to court over cancelled shows

High court in Kampala has asked for written submissions in a case in which Kyaddondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine sued the government for the cancellation of his music concerts.

Bobi Wine dragged the government to court, together with Former Kampala Metropolitan Police Commander Frank Mwesigwa after the cancellation of concerts he had organized weeks after taking oath as a Member of Parliament. The concerts had been organized in parts of Kampala, Mukono, Kasese, Kiryandongo, and Kamuli.

According to a letter authored by Mwesigwa, the shows in the Kampala metropolitan area were canceled to stop the legislator from inciting violence. He had successfully run one show dubbed ‘Specioza wankyaaya’ at his one love beach in Busabala when subsequent concerts for the month of October were called off.

The shows had been organized at the height of a debate to lift the cap on the presidential age from the constitution. Kyagulanyi, then a new entrant in Parliament, was among a team of opposition legislators who led a protest against the amendment, triggering fists and verbal exchanges on the floor of Parliament. He was later suspended by the speaker of Parliament for misconduct.

Mwesigwa also accused Bobi Wine of failing to differentiate between “Bobi Wine the musician” and “Robert Kyagulanyi the Legislator”. “We have noticed that Bobi Wine has been turning into Hon. Kyagulanyi to make political statements at music shows. That is not what we agreed upon,” Mwesigwa said.

Kyagulanyi later dragged the government to court seeking a payment of Shs300 million as compensation for lost income and his freedom which had been restricted through police action. Kyagulanyi also wants the court to issue an order prohibiting police from violating his freedom of movement and allow him to stage his shows without any hindrance.

However, the case has dragged since October 2017 due to the failure by the Attorney General to honor court summons. Today, high court judge Henrietta Wolayo told the parties in the case to make written submissions and responses on the case within two weeks, effective today.

Written submissions imply that the parties do not appear in person but send material to the judge, including relevant documents and legal arguments that explain why the case should be decided in their favor.
