Total Blackout in Uganda

Yesterday, our country Uganda was abruptly left in total darkness.  Many people struggled to find a viable explanation to the occurrence and an explanation was given by UMEME.  They kept the country calm during the blackout and informed that they were aware of what was happening.

UMEME explains that they are aware of the outage

They also explained that Kajjansi, Nakigala line hada burning transformer which cut off power in Kawotot, Kajjansi Roses, Kiwamirembe shrine, Kajjansi fishers and areas around Uganda clays play ground.

The power cuts affected major towns such as Kampala, Jinja, Entebbe, Mbarara, Kabaale, Gulu, and the various regions of the country. Reports also state that the total blackout went up to Kenya, the neighboring country that is supplied by Uganda.They explained that the power shortage was caused by a network interruption.

It was a system disturbance and network interruption

According to our sources, The Corporate Affairs Manager, Uganda Electricity Generation Company Limited,  Mr Simon Kasyate talked to Daily Monitor. He mentioned that Kenya was to blame for the power cut. He said;

“Because of the interconnection with the Kenyan grid, when the problem happened in Kenya, Uganda had to be affected.””We have disconnected Uganda from the Kenyan grid so as to connect Uganda independently.  I talk to you now, power is already restored in some parts of the country,”

This is not the first time the power cut has happened, but thank God it was restored. Thank you @UMEME Uganda. No more total black outs in the country again.
