6 ‘Forgotten’ News Anchors And Reporters Who Are Faring Exceptionally Well After Ditching Their Jobs At Local TV Stations (Photos)

2011/2012 saw news anchors and reporters quit their jobs at local TV stations to join China-owned CCTV Africa as it was being launched in Kenya.

CCTV Africa recruited a number Kenyan journalists when it was launched in Kenya on January 11, 2012. Most of these journalists have been ‘forgotten’ by Kenyans yet they are faring exceptionally well at CCTV Africa.

Below is a list of popular journalists working for CCTV Africa.

1. Beatrice Marshall

She was among the top cream TV anchors that underlined the face KTN when the Mombasa Road-based TV station was everything in as far news reporting is concerned.

While Beatrice no longer enjoys the admiration with Kenyan viewers, she is a respectable figure in Africa. Beatrice is a news anchor on CCTV Africa where she also hosts ‘Talk Africa, a weekly talk show that provides viewers with an inside look at political and economic affairs and trends in Africa.

 

2. Ramah Nyang

Ramah Nyang is another journalist who joined CCTV Africa from KTN. He used to anchor business news at KTN and also produced KTN’s morning show ‘Sunrise’.

Nyang is currently a business anchor and a reporter at CCTV Africa.

 

3. Peninah Karibe

You can best remember her during her stint at NTV. Peninah Karibe joined NTV from KBC radio where she had worked for five years.

She started off at NTV as a weather presenter and rose through the ranks to become a news anchor. Peninah joined CCTV Africa as a news anchor.

She has also done international assignments such as reporting on regional stability like the Kenya war on Al Shabaab in Somalia and effects of the 1998-2003 DR Congo conflict.

 

4. Mahia Mutua

Just like Larry Madowo, Mahia Mutua joined KTN as an intern and ended up getting employed full-time as a trainee-reporter.

He moved to Kiss TV as a sports reporter and anchor before CCTV Africa recruited him to serve in same capacity.

 

5. Robert Nagila

Who can dare forget Robert Nagila?? Nagila was the most famous reporter in Kenya when he used to work for NTV.

Nagila’s diction made him the darling of many. He joined CCTV as a reporter and he’s currently covering the conflict in Eastern Congo.

 

6. Jane Kiyo

Jane Kiyo worked for Citizen TV as a reporter before moving to NTV in the same capacity. She also joined CCTV Africa as a reporter.
