Adelle Onyango Chats Up ‘Classic Man’ Jidenna as He Talks of a Possible Trip to Kenya This Year and Sampling Eddy Kenzo’s ‘Sitya Loss’

Africa is the go to place for creative inspiration and the West is looking to the continent for new content.

Nigerian born – American star Jidenna is one such act. The Classic Man hitmaker got in touch with Ugandan BET award winner Eddy Kenzo and asked to sample bits and pieces of  Sitya Loss in his new single Little Bit More.

Kiss FM breakfast presenter, Adelle Onyango this morning had a chat with Jidenna about his African roots and his identity.

“It is humbling chatting with Jidenna because he is someone with a deep appreciation of owning the African narrative more so at a time where it is easy for someone else to own the narrative and tell us our own story,” Adelle said, “It was great having to hear him connect with the African artistes and it was dope of him to reach out to Eddy Kenzo to sample his track in the new song,” she said.

Jidenna tells Adelle that he might be touring Kenya later this year.

Besides Jidenna, Adelle has also had interviews and special single releases on her show by South African AKA (One Time), Yemi Alade (Want You) and Keri Hilson.

In other news, Adelle who is also a social activist has always spoken out against any social ills, she took exception to the insensitive social media comments and post to stories of ladies getting drugged (that were shared online).

“This is quite depressing. Based on the insensitive reactions online, rape culture is still very much alive. Our attitudes on gender, sexuality and just interactions between ladies and men have normalized rape and violence. Some responded by saying that if a man buys a woman a drink, she must “pay” back for it by sleeping with him. I feel like we should work hard, in all our spheres of influence, not to promote an environment that encourages male aggression or where violence is seen as the norm.”
