After Fred Matiang’i, Yet Another Visionary Moves To Boost The Education Industry – Using Beauty

Beauty and brains, they say, don’t go together. Well, it depends with who you’re asking. Or where you schooled.

But even though most of these gorgeous Instagram bimbos were complete failures in class, there still exists beauty and brains in the Kenyan classroom. Or at least, that’s something that one entrepreneur wishes to discover.

Candy and Candy Empire has launched a beauty contest dubbed Miss Teen Kenya Top Model aimed at not only introducing professional beauty pageants to schools, but also awarding the winners of the contest.

This one has a little caveat though – it’s not your everyday beauty contest that just attracts school leavers. This one is strictly aimed at school-going teenagers and the most gorgeous of them all.

Speaking to a local publication, the Candy and Candy CEO, Mr. Kariuki Joe, said that the entire idea is to get as many young people ( teenagers) to register for the competition and possibly wind up as winners.

And the winner has something every bigger to celebrate – the winner gets to walk away with, wait for it, a laptop, a brand new sleek mobile phone and…. A whole term’s school fees!

“We mean business. This beauty pageant isn’t like any other. We are not only awarding the winners with a brand new laptop and smartphone, we’re also paying their entire school fees for a whole term! That’s how seriously we are approaching this ” says one of the pageant heads.

And not just that, every single entrant whether they win or lose, will be immediately inducted into a renowned UK International modeling firm that will expose them to a bigger platform across the world.

So far, over 500 teenagers have already signed up and many more are still sending their applications.

“We are swamped. Our phones are blowing up. We love the response and we hope to make this bigger and better in the coming years… “
