BLANKETS AND WINE MARCH EDITION
After an extremely successful year that saw the likes of the electro-phenomenon that is Just a Band, Sauti Sol, Eric Wainaina and the Villagers Band perform alongside other continental greats such as Oliver Mtukudzi and Mafikizolo, Blankets and Wine is coming back with even greater promise this year.
Organizers of this increasingly popular and upmarket Nairobi affair will be delighted to hear that the soulful South African songstress, Lira will be headlining on the 4th of March 2012, with afro-fusion sensation Anto Neo Soul set to curtain raise alongside lyricist Atemi and Christine Kamau ‘the Jazzist’ at this years’ inaugural Blankets and Wine XXXII.
Theres a slight increase in charges, with advance tickets retailing at Kshs. 1,300 and Kshs. 1,500 at the gate. Its only Kshs. 500 for children over 5 years. The event is sponsored by, among others, South African Airways, Keringet, Dormans, Capital FM and Capital Colours.
The last edition of Blankets and Wine culminated on the 18th of December 2011 at the Mamba Village, with memorable performances from Sage, Neema and Eric Wainaina alongside a welcome guest appearance from the South African band, Liquid Deep.
It is great news that our very own homegrown artistes get the chance to perform alongside other great performers from around the continent and we feel this will contribute to the growth of the industry in Kenya
