Come On! You Won’t Believe Some of the Lies These Campus Guys Have Been Peddling About Contraceptives. Read and be awed! #Kukachora

The big C! How many know about it? Because I’m pretty sure majority of you are surely having sex. That’s a question I posed to some Campus guys the other day when they came through to the office and the answers I got were totally berserk.

The youngings admitted to having sex alright, lot’s of it for that matter but most of them were having it RAW. I couldn’t believe it! These kids were surely taking the Yolo slogan a tad too far. Weren’t they aware of HIV/AIDs or other STI’s? Most importantly, weren’t they wary of unwanted pregnancies considering they had their whole lives ahead of them?

Apparently, most of the time, they just get by relying on safe days and emergency pills once in a while with little knowledge whatsoever about these pills.

Why don’t you use contraceptives? I was tempted to ask and some of the answers I got were plainly shocking. They had all these misconceptions which they have for the longest time been peddling amongst themselves.

Like some of them thought that contraceptives either lower or increase your libido to an extent of turning you unfaithful. Can you believe that? Others shy away from using them because they believe it’s one of the major causes of cancer. Again, can you believe that? And these were just but a few, there were so many others and trust me all of them were totally insane.

Worry not though, Ghafla is the truth peddler and this is everything you have to know about the use of contraceptives.

TRUTH is:

• Contraceptives are safe for all

Women aged 15-49 years. Even those who are unmarried, HIV positive, or do not have children.

• Contraceptives cannot change a woman’s character. Unfaithfulness and low sex drive are usually caused by lack of trust and poor communication between couples.

• Cancer, infertility, and abnormality in babies are caused by drug abuse, infections in a

Woman’s body and other factors. Some problems may also be inherited e.g. breast

Cancer.

• Some methods may delay a woman getting pregnant for many months, buteventually she will get pregnant. Unless shehas another health problem.

• Side effects are easy to manage and every woman’s body is different. Somewomen get 1 or 2 side effects, and othersdon’t get side effects at all.

• Some methods provide health benefits e.g. preventing cancer, less pain during monthly

bleeding, less hair on the body or face
