Did You Know ‘Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga’ is based on A Real Life Experience in the Hands of Cops?

It’s a common phrase among guys especially when poking fun at a mishap that befalls anyone of them. Just like that the ‘Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga’ phrase formed the basis of one of the biggest club songs this year. The brains behind the song, Majirani, reveals that the song’s name is derived from a real-life experience.

He spoke to Spice Magazine about his ordeal in the hands of cops and when he sought to inquire about his mistake, the cop’s response was… (your guess is as good as mine). Here’s an excerpt of that;

If you were on death row, what would your last meal be?

Ha haa, ugali samaki. I love it.

You have the choice to live with a gorilla who knows sign language or a dog who sings lullabies; which would you choose?

A gorrila. It looks more understanding than a dog.

Is there one thing all of your love interests have had in common?

Never thought about it but yea; all my girls had short hair.

If you could erase any horrible experience from your past, what would it be?

I spent one year behind bars. I was arrested during msako. When I was in the cell, guys ganged up on me and wanted to violate me. I wouldn’t have that. I fought back, and somewhere in the process lost consciousness. I found myself alone, in a different holding and when I asked the cop what had happened, he said hivo ndio kunaendanga. My hit single came from there. Jail was the equivalent to hell. It was an endless nightmare.

Did you French kiss before you were 16?

Ha haa. That didn’t happen till I was 21.

Who’s the last person you usually think of before you fall asleep?

My mom. She believed in my talent and made me who I am today.

Now enjoy ‘Hivo Ndio Kunaendanga’;
