Exclusive: Camp Mulla’s Stable-mate Reveals How He’s Having a Hard Time Wooing Sofia

‘Esque’, born Sequiera Mogere Manasseh is not only a talented Nairobi based Afro Pop ’n’ RnB musician but a lyricist as well as an instrumentalist in his mid twenties. From a tender age he loved music but this only became evident when he joined the choir in Upper Hill High School.

It was during his period in high school that he joined an acapella group which later grew into the recently concluded Afro fusion boy band, Aziza Muzik, which comprised of Maurice Muma, popular video director Enos Olik and himself. The popular boy band which was signed to Sub Sahara Records in July 2011, launched their first album “MWENYE NDOTO” produced by Kenya’s own Big Soul, in 2012.

Anyhow, the newly established solo artiste has just dropped his hit single, “Sofia”. “Sofia” (meaning Goddess) is a Swahili-English song that describes a man’s desire of being with a classy modern lady by the name, Sofia.

This tune talks about the couple’s core problem, being that the world is against their relationship. However, all the negative criticism falls on deaf ears; he doesn’t give up. He is determined to fight for the love he has for her. This theme is fitted into a unique Afro Pop style of music. An element of the instrumental comes from one of the Kenyan tribes (Kamba) whereby the Kamba Cow Bell is  converted into the bass line.

The song composed and produced by Kenya’s own Big Soul of Sub Sahara Limited Production Label, has an up tempo to club feel with a touch of European Trance also known as garage music.

Enjoy it HERE.
