So let’s say you are a young ambitious person who is determined to make it in this town and then out of the blue some random celeb inboxed you on Facebook and told you there in as opportunity. If you are anything like me, you would grab with both hands actually and then run with it thanking the gods for the good fortune they have bestowed on you.

That’s exactly what happened to an upcoming female DJ did when Brian Odour, formerly of Nation FM and now One FM-actually Two FM came beckoning. As it is with any young upcoming talent, you are always keen on selling yourself to key people in the industry whom you think can add value to your life hoping and praying one of them would notice your craft and give you an opportunity.

DJ Kelly is fond of that, sending her posters and journey to key players just to get a feature or maybe a mention and Brian Odour being a popular radio presenter was one of her targets. She constantly kept inboxing him of her gigs; her mixes and stuff like that hoping the guy would be impressed and probably give her an opportunity.

So when Brian Odour made the announcement on his Facebook that a new upcoming station was starting and they were looking for DJ’s and especially female DJ’s it was a dream come true.

This was surely a blessing in disguise, the big break she was yearning for. She inboxed Brian immediately and all she needed to do was send 15K for a media card and the job was hers. They exchanged numbers and Brian called immediately asking that she sends the money and he would immediately start on the process of processing the card.

Unfortunately she didn’t have the money then but she promised to get it somehow; well, Brian agreed to give her some time but he warned against delaying as many people were dying to scoop the opportunity.

Looking for the money took a bit of time something which led to Brian Odour being a bit impatient where he started calling her at odds hours only asking for the money while at the same time enticing her with the attractive package she was going to receive when she secured the job.

Finally she got the money and immediately sent it to him and he acknowledged receiving it, promising to get back to her in a few days with the final details. Days turned into weeks but still there was no communication.

DJ Kelly started getting worried but Brian kept on assuring her everything would be well.  She was starting to get desperate so the messages and the calls to the guy became a tad too much and before you know it her calls started going unanswered.

And when she texted, Brian would say he was busy in the studio and he would get back only to go MIA immediately after that. He would feign sickness or being busy the next time she reached out. She started getting suspicious so she asked for her money back, she got a block immediately.

The guy totally went cold coming up with all manner of excuses as to why he was not paying up, as you can see in these screenshots below:

This was late last year and up to now he hasn’t paid up nor has he been forthcoming with the job, probably he has moved on to the next unsuspecting victim.

We reached out to him and indeed he agrees to have received the money and in turn sending it to the station for it to process the necessary documents. The only problem is, the station is yet to be on air, still struggling to get a frequency and that’s why it’s delaying.  And as to why he’s not refunding the money, he just can’t folk it out of his pocket as he has to wait for the company to make the refund.

He didn’t sound very convincing.
