EXCLUSIVE: More Top K24 Journalists Fired!

In August last year, newly overhauled K24 shook up the industry when at least 70 employees (some of them poached from KTN, Citizen & NTV) drawn from Milele FM, Kameme FM and K24 were shown the door in a major shake-up when new management took over.

However, that was just a piece of the pizza.

Yesterday, two of the leading journalists were kicked out of the Uhuru-linked media house in what has been termed as ‘major restructuring’. According to our sources, the General Manager, Peter Opondo, cracked the whip on K24’s Editorial Director, John Mwendwa and his Head of Production counterpart, David Mbatiah.

In accordance with an internal memo released by the top management, Mwendwa and Mbatiah’s services were no longer required and their positions were immediately filled on interim basis.

For now, Geoffrey Muthee assumes all matters production at K24 while the ‘big boss’, Opondo will take over from where Mwendwa left from.

Mwendwa joined K24 from KTN in 2006 where he served as a news editor to take up the Editorial Director position at the new kid on the block, K24.

For now let’s wait and see who else will be escorted to the lift.
