From Nigeria Kits Getting to the Olympics 3 days before the Completion to Julius Yego Missing Out on Gold; What Rio has Taught us About Winning

It’s been one hell of a roller coaster at the Rio Olympics with pandemonium in all forms. For Kenya it started all the way from the beginning when the NOC’s massive irregularities in selecting who goes to the Olympics were exposed. The most notable instance was when Julius Yego’s coach missed a spot because some official decided to tag along his girlfriend and his side chick too.

But Kenya’s troubles don’t even come close to what Nigeria has had to go through. Can you imagine that all of their event kits arrived 3 days prior to the closure of the global competition? Trust me it’s totally insane.

Despite all this, Kenya still emerged top in Africa with 13 medals in total; this ultimately made this Olympics the best we have ever had as a country. This forms our first lesson in winning, that it’s always in the mind. Kenyans had already set out to become champions and no lack of plane tickets was going to stop them.

Secondly, luck also plays a major role when it comes winning. Sometimes you just have to keep your fingers crossed and hope that things will work out just okay. Look at the case of Julius Yego, who was favourite to take the medal until he got injured and he had to settle with second place. How would you explain that?

You also can’t get distracted from the main goal no matter what. This is a lesson to be learnt from Nigeria’s bronze medal in football. Despite the lack of training kits, they were determined to take home an Olympic medal and they did.

Lastly, you must always be ready to take a loss with honour and try to get the best out of your experience to better yourself. You win some and lose some, that’s the way of life. In that regard, you should probably head on to Betin.co.ke to continue with the winning mentality. I suggest you start off at the virtual section where they are a myriad of games to try.
