Introducing Kennedy Kanyi, the Millennial who is on a Great Path to becoming the most Powerful Game Changer in Africa with This Initiative Meant to Turn Our Kids into Superstar Programmers

Are our kids taking over from us and we don’t even know it? That’s the vibe I got the other while I was watching a live show on technology at K24 Alfajiri on Tuesday 30th and what I saw really blew my mind. The show was hosted by Ian Wafula and the guest speaker was a Software Developer – Kennedy Kanyi.

Kennedy Kanyi is the CEO of a leading technology company, Oneplace Technologies Limited and at a young age of 25, he has managed to develop a second level programming language, BraceScript which mainly targets kids. It simply uses commands coupled with graphical commands that children will love and adore.

But hey? Who needs kids learning programming at a tender age when they should be out there catching butterflies? That should be alright but for a parent keen on their child’s future, this is something worth looking at. I mean, software development has become a lucrative career in the country with skilled developers pocketing big sums of money in terms of salary; and those on freelance earning potentially more. The path in which Brace Kids is taking will see Kenya grow into one of the most technologically advanced places in the world, and Kanyi one of the most influential teens in Africa. Companies like Andela which teach people how to code are big in their ways but they lack the aspect of training kids, which is the gap Kanyi is really filling. Starting this process from the beginning makes sure we start making a difference from the get go.

We cannot ignore the effect this technology goal change will have on us. Imagine walking home to find your kid fixing the motherboard of your broken microwave or even reprogramming the motherboard to automate some tasks. Imagine kids who build content and change the world as we know it. These are some of the benefits that the Brace Kids initiative will bring not only to Kenya, but to the whole world.

We were not able to reach Kennedy Kanyi for an immediate comment on what drives his goal and his initiative but quoting from the K24 interview with Ian Wafula, Kanyi said “The field of Artificial Intelligence is the ultimate goal, yes, I think it would be awesome.” This will see us have a breed of sharp and intelligence kids who by university level, are far beyond introduction classes.

Yes, we can all attest the country actually needs more of such creative minds that think solutions to existing issues in society and as a result we commend Kennedy to continue raising the standards of our tech sector through critical thinking.
