Is Kenyan Music Going Global with a Kenyan Soon Set to Perform at the Prestigious Apollo Theatre in New York? #CokeStudioAfrica

A Kenyan artiste performing at the prestigious Apollo theatre in New York; that would surely be a dream come true for Kenya’s music scene. Well, it could soon become a reality if the latest events are anything to go by.

For those not in the know, the Apollo music is a program initiative designed to celebrate and expand the theatre’s significance in the popular music arena. The series focuses on a broad spectrum of music by presenting contemporary acts from across America and abroad and just in case you are wondering how big this platform is; it has propelled the careers of legendary artistes like Michael Jackson and Stevie Wonder.

This year’s event is bound to happen on the 11th of this month and the spotlight is on the African music scene. Tumi Molekane from South Africa is one of the headlining artistes and guess what? She was part of Coke Studio Season 1.

Now Season II is on and all the odds are stacked against Kenyan artistes with acts like Fena and Victoria Kimani making great headway. Bearing that in mind, then I’m perfectly in order to assume that Kenya’s time is coming where we get to show the world what exactly we’re made of.

Think we can’t? Tune in to Coke Studio every Saturday night at 8PM on NTV and 9PM on QTV and see yourself blown away. You can also follow your favourite artistes in the following social media platforms;
