It’s Party Time! Kwani? Celebrates 10th Anniversary

In Celebration of Kwani? Trust’s 10 Years, Kwani? is holding a Book Party: the joint Kenyan launch of the novels: Dust by Yvonne Adhiambo Owuor (Kenya) and Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (Nigeria) on Friday 29th Nov at the Marshall’s Service Workshop/Warehouse on Loita Street from 8.00 p.m.

From a breathtaking new voice, winner of the 2003 Caine Prize for African Writing, Dust is a novel about a splintered family in Kenya and the struggle around it. A story of power, deceit and survival, grief and madness, unrequited love, sacrifice and perseverance

From the award-winning author of Half of a Yellow Sun, the dazzling new novel, Americanah, is a story of love and race, centred around a young man and woman from Nigeria who face difficult choices and challenges in the countries they come to call home.

The Book Party also features a 10-year visual art retrospective of Kenyan art featuring work by Wangechi Mutu, curated by Just A Band’s Mbithi Masya. The art installation reflects on a shared sensibility between photographers, writers and other artists. Great live music and top DJs will follow thereafter.

Entry is Kshs. 400 at the door. For Kshs. 1,000 you get a copy of either Dust or Americanah. Advance tickets can be bought on www.ticketsasa.com (pay via Debit/ Credit Card/MPesa, Airtel Money, YuCash & other mobile money merchants)
