Just How Bad is the Music Situation? No Kenyan Nominated for BET. But Tanzania is Well Represented

In 2012, Kenya was lucky enough to land a BET nomination, thanks to hiphop group, Camp Mulla

Even though the lads (and chic) never brought home the award, at leasr Kenyan music received an international recognition. Too bad for us because Camp Mulla has since broken up, at the climax of its career, and that seems to have brought us bad luck.

And that seems to have been the closest Kenya could come to the coveted music awards.

Anyhow, Kenya won’t be represented at BET 2014 but Tanzania will, thanks to their “wonder boy”, Diamond Platnumz.

The Bongo crooner landed himself a nomination in the BEST INTERNATIONAL ACT: AFRICA category.

Diamond will square it out with Nigeria’s Davido and Tiwa Savage, SA’s Mafikizolo, Ghana’s Sarkodie, and little known Toofan from Togo.

We hope Diamond will win it because it will be a win for East Africa :-).
