5 things you need to know about Africa’s soon to be tallest skyscraper that’s in Upper Hill, Nairobi (Photos)

Nairobi will be towering over Africa with a new state of the art skyscraper that will be the TALLEST building in the continent when construction ends.

Construction of Pinnacle Towers in Upper Hill officially commenced yesterday May 23rd when President Uhuru Kenyatta laid the foundation stone.

Once completed, Pinnacle Towers will be the tallest skyscraper in the continent. Together with other tall buildings in the city, Pinnacle Towers will make Nairobi skyline look like the Dubai of Africa.

Below are 5 things you need to know about Pinnacle Towers:

  1. It’s a twin tower

Pinnacle Tower encompasses two giant towers; a 70-storey skyscraper and a 45-storey second tower. The tallest tower will mainly be a storied office tower while the second tower will serve as storied luxury hotel tower for the world renowned Hilton hotel.

  1. The highest helipad on the continent

Pinnacle Tower will have a helipad at over 800 feet – the highest on the continent. The idea is to have rich people fly directly to the hotel to beat Nairobi’s hectic traffic.

  1. Pinnacle Tower will be on the world’s map of world’s tallest buildings

Once completed, Pinnacle Tower will be almost of the same height with the famous Eiffel Tower in Paris, France. The Upper Hill tower will stand at 300m (980ft) once completed, Eiffel Tower is 324 metres or 984ft.

At this height, Pinnacle Tower will definitely appear on the radar of world’s tallest buildings – it will be the tallest in Africa after all.

  1.  Pinnacle Tower targets the rich and middle class Kenyans and foreigners

Pinnacle Tower will include five floors of shopping, entertainment, and restaurants plus a health spa, gym and an infinity pool.

There will also be 200 residential houses ran by Hilton Hotel. These will include one bedroom, two bedrooms, and three bedroom fully furnished luxury apartments.

The building will also house 3 floors of basement parking, a gaming zone and a luxury mall spread across three floors.

  1. Pinnacle Tower projected to cost Kes 20 billion once construction ends

The developers, Hass Petroleum and White Lotus project, have so far spent Kes 1.4 billion in the construction of the foundation. The total cost of erecting the tall skyscraper is Kes 20 billion.
