A gunman stabbed two people in Korogocho and was shot dead

Police in Nairobi’s Korogocho slums have fatally shot a gunman accused of stabbing and robbing two individuals. Authorities were alerted by concerned citizens about an armed man engaging in a robbery spree in the area.

Upon receiving the report, law enforcement officers initiated a pursuit, which culminated in a confrontation near the Nairobi River, where one suspect was shot and killed. A pistol and a knife were recovered from the deceased assailant.

According to police and eyewitnesses, a duo had assaulted and robbed pedestrians in the Kisumu Ndogo vicinity. During one of the robbery incidents, they stabbed and injured two men who resisted their demands, resulting in stomach injuries.

The accomplice of the deceased managed to flee the scene. The injured victims were rushed to Mama Lucy Hospital, where they are reported to be in stable condition.

The body of the deceased suspect was transferred to the morgue pending identification and autopsy.

In a separate incident along Rhapta Road in Westlands, a suspect attempting to snatch a mobile phone from a pedestrian was stoned to death by civilians. The suspect, riding a motorcycle with a companion, stopped by the roadside to commit the theft.

However, the intended victim raised an alarm, alerting other pedestrians and motorcyclists in the vicinity. A pursuit ensued, leading to the apprehension and subsequent stoning of the suspect a short distance away.

Law enforcement authorities condemned the act of mob justice, urging the public to refrain from taking the law into their own hands and instead surrender suspects to the authorities for due process.
