Sauti Sol is said to have lost 200k subscribers from their YT channel after their scuffle with Azimio used one of their songs while unveiling Martha Karua as Raila Odinga’s running mate.

The boy band however did not appreciate having their music played during the political event since – there was no agreement between the group and the political party.

Their complaint however resulted to them losing 2k subscribers – which they really don’t care, that is looking at Bien’s post which he wrote;

Ezekiel Mutua to the rescue

Having learnt about the groups loss of subscribers in 48 hours, Ezekiel Mutua has now issued a statement calling out on all the fans that unsubscribes from Sauti Sol’s page.

According to him, this was a petty move…more of a juvenile reaction from grown ups blinded by their political differences. This is because despite the misunderstanding between the band and the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya, Sauti Sol remains one of our greatest bands in the country. He wrote;

We may have differences of opinion but
Unsubscribing from Sauti Sol YouTube is a juvenile reaction. Rudini haraka. Sauti Sol remains one of our greatest bands in Kenya’s history and we must not be blinded by politics to the point of hate.

You should have used the opportunity to your advantage

There is an African proverb that goes: “What an old man can see sitting down, the youth cannot see standing up.” And I’m assuming this what Ezekiel Mutua meant when he addressed sauti Sol telling them; Sauti Sol should have used the adaptation of extravaganza by Azimio to create unbwogable moment like Gidi gidi Maji Maji did in 2002.

Adding;

Some moments come once in a lifetime. In any case, is it not a great thing to see our local music being played in these big political events? I would rather have extravaganza and sipangwingwi played in these political rallies by our top politicians than foreign songs!
