Eve Mungai Provides Further Details On Kilimani Robbery

Content creator Eve Mungai has provided further details about the recent robbery incident that occurred at an apartment in Kilimani, Nairobi.

On November 10, Mungai shared video footage of individuals making off with briefcases at an apartment in Kilimani, describing them as robbers but not going into the specifics of the incident.

However, in a recent video on her YouTube channel, Mungai clarified that the robbery did not happen in her primary residence but in an Airbnb property that she owns.

Mungai went on to share the sequence of events, explaining how the robbers posed as guests who claimed to be heading to the airport the following day and needed accommodation for the night.

While Mungai typically disapproves of one-night guests, she made an exception in this case based on the recommendation of a trusted agent.

“Most of you misunderstood the information; we were robbed in one of the apartments we run as an Airbnb,” she explained.

“Somebody who is an agent, who has been giving me clients, called and informed me about a client who was going to spend only a night. Usually, I never accept one-night clients, but because it was this agent who had recommended them, I said yes,” she further elaborated.

Mungai added that the robbers gained access to the apartment by tricking the caretaker into believing they were the guests. They then proceeded to steal several items, including cash and electronics.

The content creator has appealed to anyone with information about the robbers to come forward. She has also urged Airbnb hosts to be vigilant and to take all necessary precautions to protect their properties.

The robbery is a stark reminder of the importance of security, both in personal residences and in rental properties. Mungai’s experience highlights the potential risks associated with hosting one-night guests and the need for thorough vetting procedures.

It is also important to note that Airbnb provides a number of safety resources for hosts and guests, including 24/7 customer support and a guest identity verification system. Hosts should familiarize themselves with these resources and take advantage of the security features offered by the platform.

By taking proactive measures and remaining vigilant, Airbnb hosts can help to minimize the risk of theft and other crimes in their properties.
