How married actress Lenana Karibe gets ready to shoot personal scenes

Kenyan actor Lenana Kariba is currently starring in Season Three of “Single Kiasi” and has shared that he and his wife review his scripts together.

In the series, Lenana portrays Nick, a local celebrity who enters Rebecca’s (Faith Kibathi) life with an aura of mystery and charm before facing various challenges.

“It’s truly exciting to be back. Shooting Season 3 has been a blast, and I feel like we’ve been able to delve deeper into Nick’s character than we did in Season 1,” he expressed about the show.

Reflecting on his character’s journey, he added, “Initially, I wasn’t certain about returning, especially considering how Nick’s story concluded in Season 1. But when I received the call for Season 3, it was a no-brainer. I didn’t even need to see the script; I knew whatever they had in store for Nick would be remarkable.”

Asked about his wife’s perspective on his intimate scenes with other actors, he shared, “My wife and I always review scripts together before I begin filming. She’s incredibly understanding about my profession.

She supports my career wholeheartedly, just as I support hers. She’s fully invested in Nick’s character and his journey. We make it a point to watch ‘Single Kiasi’ together, and now it’s become our weekly routine again with the new episodes.”

When questioned about nurturing on-screen chemistry, particularly in romantic scenes, he emphasized the importance of vulnerability. “In romantic scenes, you need to be completely open in front of the camera. Your co-star must do the same for the scene to succeed.

Acting requires you to be receptive to whatever the script demands, so it’s not for the shy or easily embarrassed,” he explained.

Regarding intimate scenes with his co-star, Rebecca, Lenana disclosed, “Honestly, intimate scenes aren’t the most challenging. They’re carefully choreographed by the directors, who have a clear vision for how they should unfold.

As actors, our task is to infuse the emotions to make the scene authentic. There’s nothing glamorous about performing intimate scenes with three cameras and a crew watching.”

Lenana, who is a father to a nine-month-old daughter named Ava, described fatherhood as a fulfilling experience. “Being a dad is amazing; it’s something I’ve always wanted. Ava keeps us on our toes, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Fatherhood has taught me so much about life, and it’s shown me that I can function on less sleep than I thought,” he shared.
