Janet Mbugua, John Allan Namu and other journalists come out to defend Sharon Otieno after KOT fails to show empathy

Sharon Beryln Otieno’s brutal murder shocked the country, but most people agree that her death should be a lesson to girls seeking shortcut in life by eloping with sponsors.

Sharon, a second year student at Rongo university, was allegedly fooling around with Migori governor Okoth Obado. She met her end after she was abducted alongside Nation journalist Barack Oduor who was investigating her love story with the governor which had gone sour.

Her lifeless body was found dumped in the heart of the dense Kodera Forest in Homay Bay. She was only 26 at the time of her death.

MPs react

Homa Bay Woman rep Gladys Wanga and her Migori counterpart Pamela Odhiambo have called on girls to focus on education and avoid shortcuts following Sharon’s death.

“Our girls…this must be a lesson to you…it doesn’t matter where you come from but be contented with what you have and focus…leave alone the sponsors and focus.  It is a very sad morning, this act must be condemned. This is the true test for the DCI because it is alleged that the high and mighty are involved. It does not matter who you are, nobody deserves to take a life …we want the real person behind this matter arrested and charged with the murder of Sharon,” said Wanga.
