“Journalists conduct interviews with terror and outlawed groups” Dennis Itumbi defends Larry Madowo in a surprise move

Dennis Itumbi always sides with the government in everything good or bad. But surprisingly Itumbi has condemned police summon of Larry Madowo.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) asked Madowo to record a statement over an interview with David Ndii.

Nation Media Group however says Larry Madowo will not respond to summons from the DCI. The media house issue a short statement after DCI summoned Larry.

“Neither Larry Madowo nor NTV will record a statement,” NMG said in a statement.

I don’t agree with the police

Dennis Itumbi is equally shocked by the DCI summon of Larry Madowo. Itumbi says Larry exercised his right to conduct the interview.

The Senior Director of Digital Communication at State House explains that journalist are allowed to interview anyone including terrorists and outlawed groups.

“As a citizen, I do not agree with the summons requiring Larry Madowo to record a statement with CID just because he interviewed David Ndii. As a journalist and a News Anchor, he exercised his Freedom and right to conduct an interview.

“If anyone is interested to know what happened the authority is the Interview itself and it is still available online… Journalists conduct interviews even with leaders of Terror and Outlawed groups, that is their job #PersonalOpinion,” wrote Dennis Itumbi.
