Joy For Students As HELB Disburses Funds To Continuing Students

The Higher Education Loans Board (HELB) has announced the disbursement of funds to continuing students under the Old Higher Education Funding Model (OFM). The funds will be reflected in students’ bank accounts or HELB Mobile Wallets by October 5, 2023.

This announcement comes after Embakasi East Member of Parliament (MP) Babu Owino condemned the delays in the disbursement of funds. Owino had challenged student leaders to mobilize comrades and protest against the delays.

HELB CEO Charles Ringera has advised Higher Learning Institutions (KLI) – Universities and Colleges to allow students to register as tuition fees to various institutions have also been released and should be reflected in their respective bank accounts by October 5, 2023.

This is a welcome development for students and their families, who have been struggling to finance their education. The timely disbursement of funds will help students to stay in school and focus on their studies.

We commend HELB for taking action to address the delays in the disbursement of funds. We also urge student leaders to continue to advocate for the rights of students and to ensure that they have access to the resources they need to succeed.
